Those are the same bells & whistles that are used in Jetways when they are moving to or from an aircraft. Must be a standard of some sort like when large equipment is in motion.

Yes, that sound must be some sort of standard as one hears it on everything from large to medium sized trucks and other heavy equipment when they are reversing.

Very interesting-the operator still had to use his hands to operate the machines control pendant,and help the clothes go into the rolling bin.That bell reminds me of the bell that sounds when the head pressman starts a newspaper press-and he yells "CLEAR!" as he starts the press.And have heard a similar bell while indeed at the airport-as the "jet" walkway was moved to or from a plane.

Actually the really big dogs go with tunnel washing systems. Faster throughput and so forth.
The commercial laundry/linen rental market in the NYC area is very cut throat and not something to fool with if one is a naif. Think of all the hotels, motels, restaurants, hospitals, healthclubs, etc... not just in NYC but Westchester, Long Island and even parts of New Jersey all use and or have need for linen and uniform cleaning if not rental services and you get the picture.
Once one has all that equipment installed the trick is to keep it running at capacity to make it pay. That is where the fun comes starts.
Sadly commercial laundries are still not fun places to work and usually are staffed by immigrant labour paid not nearly enough for what they are exposed to and or must endure.

Whirlcool-yes---In the plane when the pilot starts the engine-yells "Clear" so no one gets hit by the prop.Guess the "Clear" yell can be used for starting any large or powerful equipment when others are nearby.Have yelled "Clear" when starting transmitters that have remote starting pumps and blowers from its control panel.and do a walk around on some shifts----for the GE transmitters one morning the janiters were cleaning in one of the GE transmitter blower rooms-glad I looked before starting the blowers-a janiter reaching thru the belts to dust off the motor!!the janiters are supposed to tell the shift super and the techs on duty when they do that-Reminded him!--He could have lost his arm!! some guys don't look or give warnings when starting the blowers.
Or in the case of the newspaper press-lots of massive moving and turning equipment with others within inches of it!And yes--the motors on the press make nice sounds as the press starts up!2 very large DC motors on that press I watched.
