Yes I saw it and ordered one of the pinions and am hoping it will be ok. You have saved my machine and it is greatly appreciated.
Sorry for my late reply, but I am trying to figure things out before I talk here as I am new here.
I will try rotating the gear on the shaft tomorrow. I have ordered all of the parts now.
I have been struggling on how to seal and refinish the tub areas.
PRO-15 rep stressed it was only for use on bare metal and had no idea how it would behave on porcelain. The porcelain in the tub shine has worn off but there is no rust inside or out (only on the top edge and a little on the outer tub). One rep suggested I consider Rust-oleum Tub and Tile epoxy, but technical support didn't think is was rugged enough or appropriate.
I just would like to add protection against any future rust. But I don't want to take a chance it will deteriorate or risk chemical leaching onto clothes. So I have decided to only cover any cleaned metal areas with JB-weld epoxy. I have learned to be extremely careful with applying coatings in new or unintended applications as you can end up with a real mess. With metals, I have had real good luck with applying primer and enamel paint and baking it in an oven and have found it to be factory hard and durable. But these weathered porcelain wash tubs are an entirely different matter.
