When the blueberry season in Michigan was coming to a close, Ralph bought a giant box of them and did his best eating as many as he could ;-) In addition to putting them in pies, muffins, pancakes, and cobblers, I made a batch of blueberry sauce. We like to use this over pound cake or sometimes as a topping to a big bowl of vanilla ice cream. It freezes well, so I usually make a big batch and so simple - blueberries, sugar and lemon juice.

I have a big high bush and several low bush blueberry bushes and squirrels and chipmunks clean out every one when they start to finally ripen. I may get enough left to make a few muffins or pancakes before those jerks beat me to them. Just like they do with my strawberry, raspberry and everything else it seems. Onions are about the only thing they never will touch
