After almost 5 years in this house, I have finally completed the shelves in my display room. While I do have other radios and tvs throughout the house, this room has the majority of them. Unfortunately I do have more in storage that I don't have room for. Now, that the room is done, I will start pulling them down one at a time and completely restoring them, then put them back on the shelf.

I've heard those Predictas are a real bitch to work on and to keep from overheating.  Some people have even tried incorporating a small fan like on an old CPU to cool the chassis, with mixed results.

That's quite a collection you have there Justin.  Should keep you busy for a while.

nice collection-I recognized a few items as ones that I also have samples of-I have a TV like the turquoise one only mine is salmon color,a hotpoint with late-'56 date codes-mine works, but could use some repairs to get performance back up to par.

When They're Restored....

....Don't turn them all on at once - the sound wave would flatten Camelback Mountain. ;)

P.S.: I love the Trans-Oceanic and the Stromberg-Carlson console with the carved doors.

Really wonderful collection!!Reminds me of some of my freinds who collect radios.I have a Zenith Trans Oceanic radio just like in the picture-bought it from a fellow here at work--In my locker-can use it to monitor SW broadcasts from here if I need to.For me its sort of opposite of radios-I collect transmitters-not actually-but pictures and books on them.Would be hard if not impossible to put examples of all of the ones I have worked on in my house-much less run them. But I do know a man that collects 1Kw AM broadcast transmitters-they have a built in dummy load in the roof of their cabinets.Very handy--and they can be run from a standard 30A 240V dryer outlet-just attach a dryer cord to it!You can't broadcast with the transmitter unless it and you are licensed thru the FCC.But you can own them or run them into a dummy load that doesn't radiate.1Kw broadcast transmitters-older ones can often be gotten--FREE! you just have to haul it away-they are heavy-the transformers in them.Haved helpted move a few-you take out the transformers and tubes-then can be moved easier. The tubes have to be removed becuase they can break during the moving process-and in some transmitters-these are expensive or cannot be obtained anymore.

OMG! OMG! OMG!!!

That little miniature stereo "component" system ... on the shelf next to the white dog!

I remember that!

My mom used to hold "toy parties" in the '70s when I was a kid (think Tupperware party, only with toys), and I'd have so much fun (being UBER careful, of course) playing with the toys before the guests arrived. One of them was that little "stereo". I wanted one of those in THE. WORST. WAY. I bet it was about 1976 or 1977. I even asked Santa for it. Never came. :( Mom told me Santa was "out" of them that year because SO many little boys and girls asked for them.

Years later, I found out she was telling the truth; those suckers were on back order through the following spring. Not realizing what a hot item they were that year (and thinking that she could just order one for HER little boy), she went ahead that October and sold a lady her last remaining display model.

In the first pic on the 2nd shelf to the left of the Predicta is the big brown Bakelite Zenith just like my great-aunt Helen had in her kitchen.  It sat on top of her monstrous GE side by side fridge.  I think my parents still have it somewhere. Thanks for the memories.

Philco...

I spy a Philco Electrostatic speaker, do you have the console stereo it came with, if im not mistaken it had a Glaser Steers or something like that changer and a 15 inch bass speaker.

58Limited: It is an Admiral 6P32-6E1N

Norgeway: They are. I do have the console out in storage. It needs some work and is missing the large speaker from the cabinet.

Gansky1: Thank you. Don't worry to much about fiddling. No kids and most people who come by usually don't touch.

From one Radio and TV collector to another

Fabulous collection! I love trying to identify your stuff.
I am envious of the power-tune Admiral console. SON-R ?
Plus you have a power-tune Zenith. I am a sucker for TVs of that era.
I'm working on my collection now as I am on a long vacation. I wish someday I could take pictures like yours.
