I saw this just now!! I never had one but used many. They are kinda boring. I like dramatic action washers. I was thinking of getting it anyway and giving it to person who needs it. Just thought id share.

IMO An Excellent machine irregardless------
and quite dramatic on the "Small Load" setting so you can see how much turbulence is REALLY going on below! The other option is three or four new pairs of jeans on the "Large Load" setting to really start the water splashing!

I always liked this model; it's a BOL but it features 3 cycles, the same overall quality as all the other Maytags of its vintage, plus the fabric softener dispenser(that they would go to a lot of trouble to remove from the BOL's for a while, almost spitefully) and the bleach funnel. Not too shabby.

a very clean heavy duty machine.....
want to add some wash drama.....change to the 50hz pulley.....
these basic BOL units will outlast most anything out there.....

If the price is good and you have the space to store it, I'd go with your impulse to buy it and just give it to someone who needs one.
A little off topic, but from talking to non-washer people I get the feeling that there's an unserved market for these vintage machines: People who want to do laundry the way their parents & grandparents did.
1. Cycle - pick one of three
2. Temp - pick one of three
3. Load size - pick one of three
4. Clean lint filter.
I'm not talking about the masses who believe everything they're told. I'm talking about people who look at these new computerized machines and think, "We never had anything like this growing up but our clothes were always clean. Obviously it's marketing B.S. .... Oh well, I guess I have no choice but to go along with the gimmicks."

Is this just a one-speed? Am surprised it comes with a bleach dispenser as my 407 is one-speed sans bleach dispenser.
