Maytag A806 Washer Needs Seal - Free

My Maytag A806 needs a good home. The agitator is stuck and I cannot remove it to replace the leaking seal. I was going to replace the bearing assembly, too, although the washer was running fine (but leaking at the tub seal). It finally seized since it sat for a couple of years with no use.

Everything else worked great. Very clean. Beige/almond.

Located north suburb of Chicago.

By seized you mean the transmission?

Can't say for sure if it's not seized now but the transmission always seemed okay - smooth and quiet, which I really appreciated about this machine. A repairman got it loose the first time (after I moved in - washer came with house), but I think he just sprayed WD-40 around the bearing/shaft(?) as the basement smelled of WD-40 after he was done. It then worked normally, except some water would spin out from the bottom of the tub during spins. I would just put a rag in front of the machine to soak up the small puddle. Then I stopped using it and it froze-up again.

I was willing to do the seal and bearing work but I can't remove the agitator, and no one wanted to take on the project. Wish these washers were still available; ordered a Speed Queen, which arrives tomorrow...

Don't give up yet! Tried the boiling water trick?

If that doesn't work you could break/cut the agitator off and buy another on eBay.

They seem to be a common part. A few on eBay now at fair prices.
