Maytag Dryer Baffle History

I was wrong - Maytag did not shorten one of their tumbler baffles - they increased the size of two of them. See below for info obtained from February, 1980 edition of "Let's Talk Service."  I still don't think you will see a noticeable difference if you decide to replace the short baffle with a long one.

Putting it all back together....

These are my new roller shafts. Both have rust marks on them. How to clean if necessary? I didn't even look when I opened the first one.

Rusty Roller Shafts

They may be able to be polished with VERY fine sand paper etc.

 

Unless your original shafts are worn there is little point in replacing these shafts.

 

When servicing older dryers etc you should only replace parts that are bad or badly worn, the original parts are better quality than the replacements.

Thanks John! This is the shaft on the worn roller. I think it's hard to tell in the pic but it's a little concave. I'm not sure on the other one yet. Just didn't expect rust on sealed pieces.
