Hi there, first post.
i have a maytag washer (cant find a model #) it seems to have a leak in the line coming from the fill valves to the tub. there is a clear box with an incoming line and an outgoing line. there is no lid on this box and the water is just pouring out of the top. the little box is about an inch and a hlaf by one inch and maybe 3/4 of an inch deep with a sort of tubular screen filter in the bottom.

1. is there supposed to be a cap on this?
2.can i cut it out and splice the lines together?

i am currently in the process of gluing a makeshift plastic lid on it...

Don't do that,,,,

Remove the water flume and soak the entire hose unit in Lemi-Shine overnight. Reinstall and it'll be like new!

Hi Matt,

If that white plastic part is leaking, that assembly needs to be replaced.   You do NOT need to replace the hoses, only the plastic injector assembly.   You should be able to buy it seperately.

Can you post a photo of the washer?

Thanks!

Kevin

Leaking MT Fill Inlet Air-Gap

Hi, you actually only need to replace the black rubber part inside, it is available separately. And you can by-pass the whole thing if you are on your own well water system where there is not the possibility of having water back-up from your washer into the public drinking water system, this is why this strange thing is required in the first place.

Thanx guys! i definitly know where to go with any questions now! very quick and informitave answers!!

due to my location and need for my washer to be up and running i decided to just cut the faulty part out and splice the hoses. thanx again for the answers! the washer is up and running flawlessly!
