I have a Maytag Neptune DC that has a bad membrane pad / console (stuck button, per diagnostics)that I purchased about 3 years ago. When I first looked at this last year, the part was around $100. Since this was not the only dryer in the household, I didn't order it since I was out-of-state on a job assignment. Shame on me: the part is now over $300!

In another post, someone indicated that this part should be covered under the five-year electronic parts warranty, and the proof of date of manufacture could be taken from the serial number, since I can't locate the receipt for purchase. Sounds like a plan except.....I can't find the serial number on my unit! The service manual very clearly shows it being a sticker placed on the inside corner of the lower tumble dryer face when the lower door is open, but it's not there. Any suggestions as to where it might be instead?
Does anyone know the first year they started to make these dryers? Thanks
