Maytag/Samsung-Neptune Machine

Hello everyone...I am thinking someone here could come up with an answer for me that won't cost a fortune. We have Neptune front load machine which has sat in its place for 3 years withhout any problems. All of a sudden a few weeks ago it started to dance and move out from the wall. I know we don't have the most stable floor. It is wood with vinyl. I took off the top checked the gyro and it is fine. Took the back off and shocks, springs look good, motor tight etc. I can only think that here in Reno with the cold the floor boards have shrunk causing less stability. If I am in the garage and it is shaking bad it will shake the garage door. My wife and I have moved it, leveled, tightened legs almost every weekend for the past 4. We can't go out into the yard or walk around the block because we are afraid it will move about. Water heater is right next to it. I don't think it would knock it down but we never know. I really am ready to move it out to the garage and buy a WP top load and call it a day. We love front load machines. I grew up with Bendix Duomatic. Any ideas would be help full. Life in cold, dreary Reno...

Dan, I didn't realize you're here in Reno, too. Might have to talk sometime...

There is a machine control board change that might affect your washer. The new board comes with a new trembler/vibration sensor to help with those issues. The current out of balance system works (if I remember right) by sensing motor torque only. The upgrade system uses a vibration sensor similar to what the MAH3,4,55/65/75 uses to detect vibration and also to adjust spin speed to get the fastest rpm with the least shake.

I'll include the tech bulletin on the subject to see if it helps. Look at your date of purchase and the warranty in your book. The board may still be under part warranty or close enough for a part concession. Either way, drop me a Email if you want and I'll see if I can help with that since we're both in the Truckee Meadows... I am in no way trying to bypass this wonderful site, but sometimes voice works best...

Thanks Drew for the information. My wife finally placed a service call with Lowes using the extended warranty or insurance. A place called A & E Factory Service will be here Wed morning. Hopefully they can fix the machine. We do like it and want to keep it. We have the matching dryer as well. I have E mailed you a couple of times but never heard from you. Yes, the Email is up to date but my email program has the shakes or something. I'll look for your email when I know it's coming and make my program accept it from now on. I am for sure not ignoring any emails I get from fellow members!

A&E... That's Whirlpool's factory service. Yeah, have fun with that. Beware, the guy (Gal?) coming out may not have too much experience with your Samsung/Maytag just because Maytag product may still be new to alot of them. Ask if you have the updated board setup in your unit. If not, try to insist it gets it! No negatives with it, only positives.

Service came from A & E Came out today. He checked machine over and then went out to truck for about 15 minutes which I am sure he was looking up info on internet. Came back in and said he had 4 pages of stuff that could be wrong which I am sure is the same info you sent Drew. He would replace feet and shocks. He said back feet are worn. Will need to order so now we have a 2/16 repair date. He didn't re level the machine and just left. He said this is going to be a long process. MMMMkay. I will keep you all posted on outcome.

I don't want to brand the entire A&E fleet, but the experience I have had with two techs, one was just a part hanger.

It helps if you have some knowledge going into the repair. RedCarpetDrew is a great source. He diagnosed my problem before the A&E guy figured it out.

Well... Feet I can see. If the rubber is off it or damaged, it can cause a walk. Shocks? Possible but I haven't had to replace any on the Samsung. Good luck to him. Did you ask about upgrading the control if it hasn't been done yet? Below is a pic of the new board and sensor kit. Yes, they enclose the board in a silicone like substance which makes it impossible to replase any parts on it. The little part on the right is the sensor. By the way, did you mention if the washer is on a riser?

Yes Iheartmaytag..I get it. This guy was not real talkative and not up to saying much about what he was doing. He stared at the machine for a while before he started it up. He might have been thinking too. He never ran it on the high spin which is the worse now but at one time had the least vibration. Yes RCD has been very helpful. Thanks Drew for the picture of the controller and the sensor kit. Rick said it was doing what it was supposed to be doing. If it was moving up into the higher spin and vibrated it would slow it self down. Don't know if he understood me or not but I think in the end it will probably turn in to a total trial and error fix it deal. No, it is not on risers. Would be nice though. We thought of putting just the dryer on a riser because it is so deep to the back and sometimes difficult to reach back and get small items out. Parts are arriving in little packages. Monday two shocks yesterday 4 feet with rubber on them. Still need two shocks. We can't wait to get this overwith. I will let you all know how this turns out on Monday. Thanks,,Dano

Hi All The machine has been fixed up. 2 new back shocks and 4 new feet and releveled etc. I ran two loads one towels and one jeans and it went thru spins with out all of the massive shaking. It still shakes but not like it did before. The new feet do keep if from moving about so we are happy about that. The repair tech that came this time was a real nice guy and enjoyed chatting about machines. If it starts in again with the shaking and moving the house we may go to Sargents and get a new/used top load dependable care. Drew.....anything good over there. Thanks everyone. Dano

I'm glad it worked out! I wasn't sure about the rear shocks. Nothing in in a depenable care washer right now, but when you're getting ready to pull the trigger on that, let me know and I'll look for the perfect one and overhaul it for you.
