MayTag Washer - Model A806 tub seal clamping nut
What is the best way to remove the large aluminium tub seal clamping nut, without destroying the stainless steel tub seal washing underneath.
My tub seal clamping nut appears to have become welded through age to the tub seal assembly, held by a locking screw to the underlying shaft of the gear housing.
I have used the special spanner wrench and I now believe that I have just turned the tub seal assembly against the underlying underlying shaft without breaking the corrosion weld of the clamping nut.
