"Vintage 1960's small Maytag Washing Machine. Complete with current part lists and original booklet. Model A 50. It has separte wash tank and side spin basket. This is not full size washer and would be good for apartments. It was owned by an older lady and she said it works, I have never tried it but everything seems to be in working order. Feel free to email me questions or if you want the item. I can meet you somewhere in the Shippensburg area."

I want This!! Please help!!

I am wondering where I can start to find out about having it shipped? Will they box or crate it? who can do this??
I gotta have this. I have the matching dryer. Been searching for 20+ years for this machine!!!!Somebody PLEASE HELP!!

Shipping

I did a google search when I was looking for my E2L and found www.uship.com. It looked like you bid on shipping from various trucking outfits. They'll look at distance, weight and dimemsions and quote you a rate. Most wringer washers were about 150 to $200 depending.

Good Luck

Have Used U-Ship Before

Basically it's like eBay for shipping. You list what you want shifted, where it tis, where it's going, when to pick-up and when to deliver and persons bid their best price.

To get a really good quote a picture of the item along with it's dimensions and weight should be in the listing.

Once shippers start bidding you can accept or decline a bid.

It helps to research each bidder carefully (like eBay there is a feedback section) and make it clear what you want. That is if you want "blanket wrap" service, say so. If you want the thing shifted upright, then say so. Crated? Say so. And so forth.

OTOH if you want to really insure the item arrives intact and without damage there is Craters and Freighters or Microship. Both are more pricey than U-ship but they will collect, pack/crate and then ship/deliver.

Of course there is plan "C", load up a decent sized car or truck and make the trip to PA from CT yourself.

Looks like it's only a 360 mile trip.

Probably better off picking it up on a weekend instead of risking shipping damages.

My 2 cents

Twinnies will fit in most vehicles and one person can pick them up. I transported mine in a VW bug with the passenger seat removed. CT to PA is not prohibitive distance.

Can't trust shippers without proper packing but you CAN trust yourself.

any member nearby?

Is there a member nearby who could pick it up for me and we could work out the details later?
Geeeeeez! I haven't even heard back from the seller yet. My heart is pounding!!!!!!
Going to see if I could meet the seller 1/2 way or something!

If this doesn't work out, let me know.  I have this same washer I'd love to move for the same price.  I'd have to see if mine works.  It has been in my warehouse for awhile.  My oldest brother lives in Southington, so when my folks would go to visit him I could have them meet you around Danbury.

I went to college in Shippensburg.  Great town.  I'm over an hour from there now, though.

One person can lift...

Says the man who has never lifted an A-50. Lol. It's one of the smallest twin tub machines, but one of if not the heaviest compact machine. dimensionally it will fit in the back of just about any car.

a fun machine, and one I don't think you would regret getting, make it a fun trip!

the man who has never lifted an A-50

would be me alright. Never even seen one. Photos make them all look the same proportions. I could lift the Panasonic and I'm scrawny so I extrapolated. I take it back.

no word from Cl seller

I still have had no response from this seller. It really sucks.I am very annoyed and upset. I really want this machine. I can't figure it out unless something has happened. If it was sold I wish they would say so and remove the ad.

Don't Give Up!

It can be frustrating but stay on it and stay cordial. Who knows what is going on in the seller's life? Sometimes remaining cordially persistent shows the seller you're a serious buyer. I am currently trying to buy an item and only heard from the seller this morning - 9 days after the ad appeared. So stay with it, stay cordial and we all send you positive energy!
