Anyone else seen, or used this stuff?

I've read a few of you mention they took the beloved Phosphates out of Ariel, and some say it's still there, I honestly have no idea though..

I did look at the ingredients list, and it lists "Water Softener" instead of Phosphate. :(

Here's some Pics I have..

Ingredients/Chemical Listing:

To be honest, I really like the performance of it, and Tide with Bleach powder. However, I'd still love to know, if anyone knew if it has STPP, or any other Phosphate still in it.

I haven't checked in a couple of months, but last time I checked the original Mexican version does have phosphates. P&G has made a version to be sold at Wal-Mart and other stores called "Ariel USA" that comes in a deceptively similar bag. This American version does not have phosphates.

Though I cannot guarantee it 100%, if the version you have does not say "Ariel USA", then it should be phosphated.

Mexican Ariel doble poder! I've used it  and will keep  buying and using it as it is GREAT!!!!!

Wonderful cheap powder, better than many "branded" (outside mexico) expensive ones.
It is a blue powder, scent is awesome,  and washes wonderfully!

From what I know even in Mexico and so  for mexican powders carried in  USA  Phosfates have been banned, or comes in a small percentage.... I may be wrong....
That is also for Foca powder, now it's phosfate free formula...still great IMO.

I didn't notice differences from the Ariel USA version and mexican Ariel....
I usually serve myself at the "thelatinproducts" website, they do carry the Ariel in various forms and many other awesome detergents, original mexican things.
I just purchased some months ago some bags of Ariel Doble poder con Oxyanillos (Double power with oxy rings), infact you can notice in the blue  powder small red  rings....but I did see them in the Ariel USA too and even in packages not stating oxyanillos anymore, I think now the presence of oxyanillos entered to be part of the formula, so they does not even state it anymore...

Infact the packages stating oxy anillos are older, the graphic also changed now....

@kenmoreguy89 Some Bags of Foca have Phosphate. I've only seen the 1-2kg bags though, the 5kg Bags are all Phosphate Free here.

The Local Mexican Grocer has a amazing Detergent Selection..

Viva, Ace, Ariel, Roma, Foca, Buenas Something, 123?, and a few other ones I can't remember.

But just imagine, a whole 20-30 feet or so of a aisle, with nothing but Foreign Detergent.

I really wanna try Ariel Total something. It's supposed to be like Tide Total Care, however, if it's Phosphate Free.. maybe I'll stay away.

Just do not know, any size of Foca I've bought and seen lately didn't have phosphates...

I've tried all the ones you mentioned I don't recall having seen a Buenas etc... or something recalling that name, that's interesting though...I miss to try Ace and Maestro Limpio powder   (The american MrClean, yes in Mexico they have it in polivalent powder to be used for laundry, dishes and general cleaning)  and I'm looking to them from awhile, but cannot find them available in retail shops, I especially want to try the Maestro Limpio Lemon scent.
I do though used the Blanca Nieves (Snowwhite), powder for laundry and dishes,  and it worked very  well also... it's always made from the factory of Foca  and Roma "Fabrica de Jabon La Corona" (Soap Factory the Crown).
From what I know even in Mexico looks like they're banning phosphates though....but you can find around some still having them.
About Ariel USA, looks to remember I've read  it was made in Mexico too, and the packages are written in spanish..not in english...
It is also confirmed in this silly article I just found:
Here is a link for the Maestro Limpio I mentioned, unfortunately I can only find it from wholesaler but I'd like so much to try it out:

@kenmore Guy, I promise you there is Foca with Phosphate. I think the company that makes it, makes Roma as well. Now, I've only seen Roma in Phosphate Free form as of late, however, for the longest time I could recall it having Phosphate...

I know Walmart carries Foca (Phosphate Free) form in all there stores, and in select areas "Ariel USA" (also Phosphate Free) however, if I drive down to our International/Mexican (Mix of some Asian/Mexican) Grocery Store I can find Bag after Bag of 500grams,1kg,2kg bags of Foca loaded with 3% Phosphate (by weight).

I've attached a pic of a bag. I'm sorry it's Blurry, I'll take another one when I get home. But I just wanted you to see it.

Foca with Phosphates is Real :D

How I forget to mention this?

In my area, I can find Bottled Mexican Mr.Clean, for like $1.

I'm pretty sure it has Phosphate too, but I'm kinda unsure..

Have you tried "Enseneo Max" Fabric Softner? I've been meaning to grab it, but I was curious about anyones view about it.

I didn't say that they didn't contain phosphates once, just that looks like they're banning or avoiding them even in Mexico so in  mexican detergents.... the new bags you can see around are all without them.

Mexican bags of Foca are different from ones you can find in USA, they are written completely in spanish and do state: Detergente Bio logico and Bio degradable... I've seen some stating "libre de fosfato"  (Phosphate free) for awhile also, then nothing ...... so are they all without phosphates even for mexico now? I assume it is so since they state Bio degradable and had the lable "libre de fosfato" for awhile.
In USA  pckages are different and  do state Laundry detergent in english, and  in newer bags you find a label with   written "phosphate free".
The "old" bags just said laundry detergent and no lable as they had phosphates indeed.
I think this is a thing regarding both Mexico and USA...they changed the formula to w/out phosphates and ALL the new bags in english now state phosphate free...old ones not as they had them.
Wish I could have a mexican original bag to see if there is really a  formula different for mexican market, or if it is as I think it is that now they banned them in their detergents both for mexico and USA market.
Talking about USA:

You can still find bags with phosphates  somewhere though, probably because they still have a big stock of ones ordered before this change, but ones seen lately didn't have phosphates anymore  like they used to have.....
That is what I was saying....
I do believe yours bags do have phosphates, was not needed to show the pic as a proof! :)  and if I were in you I would stock me up with them before they start carrying newer ones without phosphates.....
Regarding Roma, the ones I got didn't have phosphates, never, not sure if once they used to have them, anyway wonderful stuff like Foca and Blanca Nieves.
Regarding the factory as I said in the last post yes the factory that produces Roma is also the same that produces Foca, and Blanca nieves, the factory is" La Corona".
Others of the factory/company I never seen in USA are, Dona Blanca ( White Lady) and Puro Sol ( Pure Sun),  I guess not available in USA...

I just found the company website, you can visit the page in spanish, it will show up all the detergents that company produce, if you select english language I notice automatically just show up ones available in USA.
It is the same factory that produce Zote soap bars and new Zote soap flakes (also carried  in USA at walmart etc...).
It also priduce 123  cooking oils, it naturally does not have anything to do with the 123 detergent from Henkel...

Not strange to see a soap making factory making cooking oil also, probably they make their soaps thanks to  waste oil from production also,  and so from their own made oils,  is from oil  and fat you get soaps then... they probably do own an establishment for oil extractions so are completely self sufficient....

3.

But better than this. Maybe #1 is more biodegradable? Possibly a workaround. I like it's performance. The bio in combination with the LAS probably gives the best of both worlds. [this post was last edited: 4/23/2013-14:06]

Think Freedy is right.

The phosphate version are slowly going away. Here in the states anyway.
The Roma, Foca, ect at Walmart are all phosphate free now. I have a Mexican Grocery store not far, that had a few of the phosphate versions, mixed the the new phosphate free. I snagged up a few of the small Foca's (this was last year)
Now the same Grocer doesn't have any with phosphates.
So Mitch if you want phospahated, you better grab up the one you saw!
I once ordered a bag of phosphated Roma over the phone, and asked for the phosphated version. The guy had to go in the back, and found a bag of the old version, and was nice enough to send me that one!
Now I use these rarely, as I feel once there gone, that will be the end?

P&G Along With Other Makers of Phosphate Mexican Detergents

Took heat from "tree huggers" and others years ago when Mexican detergents loaded with STPP began showing up in American shops. The makers of Ariel, Foca, Roma, etc.. countered they themselves did not market nor sell directly to places in the US contrary to state bans on phosphates, but rather it was various importers/distributers who were at fault.

For awhile Ariel powder was launched as a USA version (it stank to high heaven with scent), but was quickly withdrawn. This was the first salvo to *capture* the Hispanic American laundry market. This is because market studies found the reason Mexican laundry products were selling well enough in the USA was because Mexicans and others didn't know "Tide" but they sure as heck knew "Ariel, Foca, Roma," that is these housewives and others went for what was familiar.

Since US version Ariel fiasco, a new tactic developed; simply remove phosphates from the offending detergents and thus allow them to be sold legally all over the United States. Am sure there are other reasons as well but the looming federal action on phosphates for dishwashing and automatic laundry products probably didn't help.

There was also in a round about way shops and detergent makers were making a good amount of money from "Hispanic" detergents (a market that continues to grow in the United States), and didn't want to loose sales. Ariel without STPP is still Ariel to many Hispanic customers and long as they keep buying....

Thing is here in NY there long was a ban on phosphates in laundry detergents. Being as that may K-Sears on Astor Place had a huge selection of the aforementioned Mexician laundry products on sale for ages that were laden with STPP. Last time one checked over a year ago the selection has decreased an all offerings are phosphate free.

Stockpile Craze Time Again..

Well, I guess I better start stocking up again..

Kinda upsetting to think, I have 3 bags of Ariel 5kg Bags that are Phosphate Free :(

Was at

a supermarket today, (well know chain) and noticed the bags of Ariel on the shelf.
Remembering this thread, noticed that the bags looked exactly like the one pictured above, and were extremely scented ( as Laundress has mentioned ) however there was a sticker on the bag with the English translation of the ingredients. Sodiumtripolyphosphate was the third ingredient on the list, along with enzymes.
So there out there still on the shelves.
Would have bought some, but couldn't handle the the heavy scent. Felt it was all over me, from just handling the bag!

Stan, are you sure they were not old bags? That would be nice to know.... I thought stuff or Ariel with STPP was not longer sold or available for the new forms in the USA and mexico (being the same bags sold in Mexico and South America regarding Ariel)...that would change my thoughts if so.
As Launderess said the Ariel USA is discontinued, only original mexican bags now, infact you can read in the back all the data about P&G offices through all South America, Colombia, Venezuela etc... except Brasil and a few others.. so it's the same sold over there, no special formula without STPP just for USA,.
So that would totally upset my previous thoughts and what I've read if they're new bags..
Regarding the scent I think this is to personal preferrence, I totally love the way it smell, is just wonderful for me.

I also wanted to add a few notes about fake ariel bags I did not mention.
Looks like chinese a part producing fake Tide also makes Fake Ariel, so keep on eye what you're purchasing and where you're purchasing!

Different from this: http://www.isiahfactor.com/2013/02/04/tide-detergent-being-sold-on-the-side-of-the-road-in-houston/
This is not fake but a kind of Tide sold legally in China and Vietnam and imported in USA( not sure if legally imported in USA) , with Downy, Called also "huong" in China and Vietnam.

A Vietnamese Tide Bucket: http://yinchoon.trustpass.alibaba.c...0575797/Tide_Downy_Detergent_9KG_in_Pail.html
A bag of the Chinese Tide with Downey sold on ebay:  http://www.ebay.it/itm/150943317733?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649
While these may be original bags sold in China and Vietnam actually produced by P&G china,  and maybe not allowed to be sold in USA so legally, what I'm talking about are  fully fake ariel and tide bags and boxes produced by chinese manufacturer putting the name on them, like you can read in the first link.... those idiots did put kg instead of Lbs, the only thing that made it discover this fraud.... but there're manufacturers in China who still produce fake Tide and Ariel in a workmanlike...

Here is an example of a A fake Mexican ariel bag produced in china: http://www.tjskl.org.cn/products-se...oap_detergent_for_hand_washing-pz53214c7.html
You can notice the Oxy Azul type and the "abre facil" - "easy opening" written in spanish... country of origin actually is: China.

So there is even this possibility to stumble in one of these fake bags.
You probably may even not notice they're fake if you're not used to the product.
Be careful.
