Miele W1065 and T1069C: how to wire in US

Hi,

I just bought today a combo W1065 + T1069C dryer.
I wanted to hook them to replace my old american appliances.

In my garage, I have a 10A/20A outlet (the one with the left side as a T which accepts both two vertical as 10A or one hor & one ver as 20A) for the old washer plus a 30A outlet (3 prongs: bottom two forming a V, top one shaped as a L).

The W1065 came with a weird 4-prong plug that I was able to replace with the standard 3-prong dryer cable (ground left unconnected). I believe the W1065 now works as the door unlocked when plugged in.

However, when I tried to plug in the T1069 dryer, I could not as the RIGHT prong is horizontal, while on the outlet, it is the LEFT one

I've attached a picture with the outlets, cables & reference tags.

What can I do that is simple to be able to hook up that dryer (I believe the washer is now good)?

The dryer has a U.S. 220v/20a plug. Cut it off and install a regular 220v/30a dryer plug. Plug it in to your dryer outlet.
DO NOT ATTEMPT TO PLUG THIS 220V appliance (rated actually at 208V) into your 110v washer outlet.

Now both of your appliances will need the larger outlet -which is the 220v U.S. dryer outlet.

To use BOTH your W & D simultaneously you will need either to:

1- Split the dryer outlet to feed both machines (but you are awfully close to the 30a max/limit), or

2- Convert your washer to 110v/120v (as you can see it is rated for both voltages i.e. 110v & 220v)) and put the proper plug and cord on it for that voltage. Then, the washer will be plugged into the washer outlet and the dryer into the dryer outlet.

OH and another CAVEAT:

1- BTW, standard U.S, clothes dryers are now (required to be) connected via 4 prongs and conductors. 3 prongs/conductors is the old way.

2- YOU MUST NOT LEAVE ANY APPLIANCE-- ESPECIALLY A 220V UNIT-- UNGROUNDED. The ground and neutral SHARE a prong and conductor when wired via a 3 prong and conductor U.S. dryer connector.

Another way to safely ground such an appliance:
Get a heavy duty extension cord with three prongs (i.e has a ground pin). Cut off the female end. Tape the ends of of the non-ground wires (the black and the white)so that they are fully covered and "safed-up". Connect the green or green/yellow striped conductor to the machine's ground conductor and or frame. Plugging in the extension cord should then properly ground the machine. You MUST ensure the black and the white conductors are properly covered and are not touching anything or any other wire.

So you'll have tto plug for this machine; one providing the much-needed grounding
