They used the dispenser as a Liquid Soap/Detergent compartment. Maybe that was built up fabric softner in there but, have seen where folks thought it was for the other stuff. Imagine how your laundry would be all nasty when the washer was done, cause they didn't trip the lid switch to take a look. NO NO NO.
