Too bad the DuPont "Tontine" shades are not available anymore-liked these BETTER over the new window coverings sold today. Most are UGLY JUNK!!!And---CATCH DUST!!!Blinds----into the dumpster!!!!

the nitrocellulose coumpound would make the fabric flammable!!But those shades sure looked nice and worked well!Remember these were sold well into the 70's!Beleive there was a change to a vinyl based fabric treatment after that-the replacement was good, too!

I have one exactly like in the ad. According to my parents, it belonged to my dad's father, who moved in with us when I was a couple months old. I hope I still have the shade, as I took it off at some point in time to use a floodlight bulb in it.

My mom always used Johnson's Pride wax on our wood furniture as long as it was made. I have a couple glass bottles, and one still has a little left in it. The bottles are exactly alike, but their is a slight difference in the labels.
