The lwn432 is gonna have a residential stablemate.

The lwn432 is gonna have a residential stablemate. . What is meant by this? Are they bringing an updated AWN432 back?

Auto fill on TC5?

Auto fill like TR7?
When will these be available?
Full tub of water to the top of tub on deep wash?

Are the front loaders back in production?

I really would love to get a new Front Load SQ with front controls. Do you know when they will be back on the market?

I would imagine the TC5 is Alliance's answer to lost market share due to the Maytag top load commercial washer. If this is the case, then the TC5 beats the Maytag in build quality alone, wash performance will probably be equal, however SQ is not dumbing down water temps like the Maytag. Glad they have responded to their customer base/

Classic looks like Winner!

As close to perfect as I had hoped for. I think. I have only had a chance to view on my phone.

Has only two water level choices for each cycle with either 2" or 3" difference between them.

Only two soil levels / wash time choices, Standard and Heavy.  Normal Eco states Heavy is 32 mins longer than Standard!  All the other cycles are 3 or 4 mins longer.  Are the stated times only for the wash period, or the entire cycle start-to-finish?

Motor is 2-speed but three agitation speeds are stated in the chart.  Is "Medium" for Perm Press perhaps intermittent high speed?

Is the chart correct on Prewash/Soak and Extra Rinse being options for Spin Only (no agitation speed and fill levels are stated)?  That provides a Soak/Spin cycle and a Rinse/Spin cycle if so.

Glad to see this, though at $1029 SQ is capitalizing on demand for 'classic' system.

The Maytag at approx $150-200 less is competitive esp with their warranty. It's what I WAS recommending to washer hunters. The 'Tag does look a bit 'rough' in person and knowing the plastic/invertor guts leaves me cold.

Glad I can now tell people to pay 20% more and get a machine I believe in. Can't wait to see one at my AAA Appliance dealer!
At least SQ is paying some attention.

FINALLY they have something good again! They probably had to bring back the old design since sales were down in 2018 to earlier of this year, and these newer Speed Queen washers will definitely be better with transmissions in them. Speed Queen should really come up with a new dryer design since their dryers get very hot while in operation, and tend to scorch clothes because of how hot they get.

Looks like a decent deal

I wish the Bulky cycle used a high spin speed and that the normal and heavy cycle used high spin speed for their “wash” spins. I’m interested in the Medium wash speed for P. Press.

Thank goodness they brought back the good machines. I’m so glad I waited to buy a new washer, now I can get one of these. I actually really like how they look too.

The new control layout sounds a little odd but I’m really glad they’re bringing back a transmission machine. My aunt bought the commercial Maytag and it’s already having random out of balance issues with the outer tub slamming into the chassis pretty hard as it speeds up, which a SQ would never do. I was kinda lost there cuz I don’t think I can recommend that machine anymore based on that and what I’ve seen here lately, so, glad I can recommend a SQ again.

As for the dryer, get one with a medium heat setting and it won’t cook clothes at all. I’m still getting used to setting the drying times on it as it doesn’t dry identically to the old Samsungtag, I’m convinced the medium setting on the SQ cycles the burner more than on the old dryer, plus the SQ cool down cycle is 10 minutes vs 6 for the old one. If I put it on high heat it dries the same as the old one, but add 4 minutes to the timer to account for the longer cool down cycle.

My thoughts...long.

I am glad Speed Queen is bringing back a new Classic, but I feel Speed Queen needs to make things right with dealers who were honest about the TR series. I do not sell or repair washers, but even I can see the TR series wash action reminds me of a carnival ride that spins in one direction and suddenly reverses direction. When the direction changes suddenly, the force of the change in the carnival ride packs people together. In the case of the washing machine, the clothes are packed together. Despite Speed Queen's marketing attempts, I could never be convinced that the "perfect wash system" is somehow different and is able to "push soap and water through the garments". There seems like there would be no space between the clothes. This does not mean that it may not work well for some.

When I compared it to the Maytag mvwp575gw, these differences stand out.

1. Speed Queen has no automatic temperature control (ATC) or other restrictions now on hot water. For those who already have the Maytag, the ATC can be disabled, if needed. I think the max hot temperature is 105 or 115 degrees F at the most.
2. The TC5 wash action, if like the awn432, should be a noticeable improvement over the TR series. However, I do prefer the Maytag's dual agitator. Not only does the tub and agitator move in different directions, but the top and bottom of the agitator move independently. With either machine, the result should be clean and fresh smelling clothes. Points to the Speed Queen for slightly less wear/tear on clothes. Points to the Maytag for having an edge in cleaning tougher soiled items.
3. Water level selection. With the Speed Queen, one has two water level choices (14 gallons/19 gallons). It looks like those choices are available with Bulky, Heavy, Permanent Press, and Delicates. It also looks like one can choose the water temperature too. The Maytag has full tub wash (22 gal? /maybe 25 gal for Bulky only?) and full tub rinse ONLY when Bulky, Delicates, Mixed, or Powerwash is selected. The Maytag has a half tub wash (14 gal?) / spray rinse but ONLY with the Normal (Eco) cycle. A half tub rinse which requires resetting the cycle to normal after it washes but before it does the spray rinse. Unless automatic temperature control is disabled, one cannot change the water temperature. The normal wash motion on the Maytag may be too rough for delicates. Clear win for Speed Queen TC5 on this point.
4. Speed Queen Transmission vs. Virtual Modula Washer (VMW). I do think the SQ will last longer, but I think the VMW would be easier for me as a consumer to fix (will have to wait and see the internals). However, I am a fast learner and can follow YouTube videos ļ. Does anyone know if this is the same transmission used in the AWN432?
5. Speed Queen TC5 is $1029? The Maytag can be found for $750 or less. The parts and labor warranty is also five years instead of three (why is the tC5 only 3 years instead of 5 or did I read this wrong?)

I wonder if Maytag can address the water temperature levels with a software fix. It appears the thermistor is capable of measuring temperatures between 32 degrees and 149 degrees F.

I am unable to determine if Speed Queen does not have the water level or auto fill selection in the TC5 model due to cost, wanting to keep some advantages with their TR series, or due to not passing eco standards also with it (yet it's in the TR5?). It would have also been a slam dunk instead of back in the court again. However, I am so pleased Speed Queen listened to their customers! The name is perfect!

I will be curious to see Maytag's response to this since this machine was designed to be a direct competitor.

The one thing neither washer address is the small loads and loads where one would not want to use an agitator. For less than $200, one may find a portable washer fills that gap better especially if you already own the Maytag versus the cost of replacing a whole machine. I have no clue why the government continues to believe less water, cooler water, cheaper construction, etc. saves energy and the environment.

I plan to keep my Maytag, which has not had any issues in the 9 months I have owned it. It has worked like a champ for our kid and pet friendly hh so far. I will use the time left under warranty while these two manufacturers make improvements to their TOL models that must meet new eco regulations.

AutoSensing

No inverter motor and no one-unit agi-tub means no load sensing for you with SQ.

While the TC5 is a nice adition I have no freaking idea why they would pour probably millions into a design they had to know was horrible just to return the old design.

Really, design a propper recirculation spray rinse, a proper mode shifter to skip transmission redesigns and transmission related efficency losses, slap in the inverter motor plus a good ATC and you are done with meeting regulations.

And if the regulations get even more restrictive you could turn that into a good wash plate design with close to 0 effort.

I'm curious how they got around the regulations.

Maybe normal uses a catalyst system? At least that is what I'd do, have a solenoid kick water back into the tub at low spin speed to wet down the clothes then stop and agitate on low at a low water level. Spin with sprays & recirculation for the rinse.

Not perfect but thats how I'd do it. Other cycles as usual.

Speed Queen TR5 vs new Classic

Henene4,

Thanks! The inverter motor is expensive to replace and another part that can fail. I do not like the agitub wash motion. If this is what is required for autofill or auto sensing to work, then I do not want it.

Does anyone know why there is no manual water level switch? Did they omit this to cut costs? I wonder if one can be added??? This is not a deal breaker for me especially since the medium loads should be really useful with the TC5. I am looking forward to the reviews on this.
