I think a few years ago some company was making replicas of the originals using modern CRT's for an accurate look. Looks like they still are making them.

In order to pull that off they need to intentionally distort the video sent to the flat panel to make it mimmic the distortion of the curved tube. It would be OK to only have the rectangular picture but dang it the edges better look distorted! It just looks too flat there...

Reminds me of when I was a kid and couldn't figure out how to fix a radio...so I wired the speaker to an external input. Excusable when you're in third grade. This? Not so much.
