Maybe this is no excuse

I am a real novice as far as alot of computer stuff is comcered. I had a bf at one point that was a computer wiz, trust me, he even had the New England accient to go with it. If I did not know how to do something, then I asked, or rather he would say, I'll do it, and left it at that. As far as saving bandwith, I am all for it. Pic sizes, I just do not have the knowlege on how to do that.I am sure that I will have to figure it out. A pic thread would be nice once or twice a year.I really know very few people, and really can be quite shy, so this is a perfect medium for me. Thoughts?

While the face pic thread was fun, it was also getting slow to load even on DSL. And I think it served its purpose quite well.

What I'm missing more are the threads on old phono radios, toasters, detergents, etc. This group has a lot of collective knowledge and wit. Thanks so much to Robert for providing a site where we can share.

Why can't our picture come up by our screen name on each thread/post that's tied to our user profile? I think that would be cool to see everyone and put a face to all the people we've been talking to. Just a thought-- James

Saving Bandwidth

If you cut the photo down to 256 colors before uploading it will greatly reduce the size of the photo. Most graphics programs can handle this. Smaller sized photos mean faster loading of the thread.

Pics in the profie

Would be a good idea if it could be handled without too much bandwith.

Maybe...

I love the idea of a picture-on-thread feature, maybe a cut down version of the picture-in-profile. Not sure how close Robert runs to his bandwith and processor load limits with the provider, but the features seem to me like they would be somewhat intense.

Wish I knew the first thing about HTML instead of all this FileMaker Pro. I hate to be one of those people with some supposedly great idea that someone else has to do the heavy lifting to impliment.

props

I think it would be nice if we could all use vintage appliances in our photos as props. We could then associate you with the machine and perhaps even the thread and make the whole thing more appropriate for an appliance forum.

Hopefully the next photo I publish of myself will be standing next to the 1927 Brunswick panatrope, possibly as early as next Monday night, or Tuesday.

A small thumbnail photo of everyone at least residing in your profile would be an excellent idea also.

Love to you all.
Holla from Hollywood.

Bob
