Don, I think this might actually be a 58 model - I think that was the first year the retractable cord appeared...
Oh, and I have a service manual for this machine....

I concur with Paul (turquoisedude) on the model year for this MobileMaid dishwasher. I am having difficulty deciphering the first letter of the Serial Number. It appears to me to be the letter "U". This letter tells us the month that the machine was built. The second letter in the serial number is clearly an "S", which indicates the production year, which is 1959, from the GE tables.
This dishwasher appears to be in remarkable condition except the sump area in the bottom of the tank around the impeller. There could be a potential leak in the bubbled up areas. Therefore, If I were in the market to buy this machine, I would be willing to pay somewhere in the area of $50 to $75, or perhaps a bit higher. The average that I have paid for dishwashers is around $80, considering all ages and conditions.

Ok thanks for your time. I thought in that good condition it would be worth a lot more but if that's all it's worth I might as well take it to the dump. Not worth my while to list it on Craigslist for $80.00

Thank you for taking the time to take the pics and post them. It's a very nice dishwasher, but there are relatively few collectors of appliances. Unless one of us is local, there's a significant shipping bill to deal with. If you find someone in your area, you may get $150. Please remember that regardless of condition, it's just an old dishwasher. I would think you'd want it sold and go to a good home. It's sad to comment about tossing it.

Or...instead of dump, donate it!
You could also have a local charity come pick it up and allow them to sell it rather than just dump it. As Travis said shipping can be some serious $$$.

Yes, I am sorry that the average going price for any vintage dishwasher, at least that I have purchased, is $80. Granted, I have paid $200-$250 for some of my rare dishwasher finds, and those are offset by the few that have been given to me.
When I approach a seller of a dishwasher, I often times give them examples of the machines that I have already purchased for my collection, and make comparisons. I also explain that vintage dishwashers simply do not sell, as a general rule, for as much as vintage Ranges, Refrigerators, and Laundry machines.
Don, I do hope that you will sell your dishwasher to an avid appliance/ dishwasher collector, knowing that it will be loved and cared for, just like it has been taken care of since 1958, even though you may not get a large amount of money for it.

Junk it rather than sell it?
I wish I had so much money that I could just throw it away like that. But the thing is, if I did have that much cash laying around, I'd probably use it to restore an old appliance.

Yes I am interested BIG time. If I could have it delivered great.> BUT shipping is ?? not even sure how to go about it (never have) and the cost. I would pay $200.00 for the machine (want it and love it) but suspect it will cost double that to have it shipped. AS much as I want one $600.00 is just out of my mind . This dishwasher is 3/4 way across this country. Have been praying to the dishwasher gods. It could happen. If anyone has any ideas that will help me in this crisis, PLEASE let me know. Michael
