Ok Guys

Whats the Most Boring Automatic Washer you have or have seen???

Mine:

Frigidaire Top Loaders.. They have no roll over and there "dual action" agitator is useless imho...

And once again, I am here to defend the much-maligned modern Frigidaire top-loader, goddammit!

Call it a big, white hunk of plastic; bemoan the absence of a cool-down protocol for the "Colors" cycle; curse the lack of timed dispensers for bleach and fabric softener; bitch to high heaven about how it only fills to a medium-high water level: Of all these things, it stands accused.

But calling its wash-action boring? No way! With the correct clothes-to-water ratio, I think it's one of the most engaging top-loaders to watch.

ALL front loaders in my opinion!!! (yawn) although the commercial ones are better. all the front loaders made today are soo boring, pausing for a while then reversing, then the spin, (omg!) the hour they take balancing and re tumbling, WHEN they dicede to spin if at all, then they pulse spin! i hate that, then when they do spin the whole house viberates. my front loader used almost no water, i hated it! there was NOTHING going on! its almost like watching a dryer tumble! terrible. i actually got so bored with my LG front loader i un hooked them and bought a used filter flo from craigslist, best machine ever, i am trying to sell the LG, nothing wrong with it, just too boring for me. the bf always laughs at me, sometimes i could sit there for an hour watching the GE! filter flos are FUN! talk about some washing DRAMA!!

turbulance

GE top loaders are my least favorite. I think (and I have sent numerous email to the different manufacturers)that if the new front loaders would just add one more perforated tumble arm,it would increase the turbulence dramatically. Those of us who have witnessed the Bendix front loaders know exactly what I am talking about.

Any front loader without a window.
Any front loader with a window where not enough water is in there to let me see it splashing.

I'm sorry, but a front loader where the water never reaches the window just doesn't sit right with me. I gotta see some stuff going on to think that it's getting cleaned, and that includes seeing enough water in there to actually clean something.

top loading HE

Frigilux, I feel your pain. I've had my Oasis capped on a bunch of times as well as your Frigi TL in these "Worst Washer" threads.

My vote for least favorite machine goes to any of the DD Shred/Ken/Whirl/Tag machines. Following behind are the front loaders that take forever to decide to spin.

That being said I love all washing machines. Just some more than others.

But, I root for the underdog.

GO 1994+GE, OASIS/CABRIO, FRIGIDAIRE TL!

GO AVOCADO!

There. I've said it!

Heres a tip from me on how to end the boredom of thos GE front access junkers. Take lid off machine, cut a small window in the lid itself, take precut piece of plexiglass and silicone window in from the bottom. Then to protect your hands from rough edges, glue in some trim around edges on outside. Pimpin' my machine.

Worst for entertainment value are any machine that doesn't let you see what's going on during the wash cycle....all those bloody lid locks are a pain in the &^%$...

Oh I'm gonna get it......

Most boring washer? Vintage Maytag Toploader........

Bring forth the pitchforks and torches, but have you actually WATCHED one of those machines? *YAWN* Absolutely no drama. The water on the surface hardly breaks and you can't even suds lock it. How fun is that?

Sorry folks.....but I like drama....splashing......sudsing! The Maytag just doesn't deliver enough fun-value for my liking.

"Bring forth the pitchforks and torches"

We won't let you get off that easy ;)

"But have you actually WATCHED one of those machines?"

Yep, weekly for over 25 years!

*YAWN*

That's subjective....

"Absolutely no drama. The water on the surface hardly breaks"

Stop overloading the machine! LOL!!

"you can't even suds lock it"

Don't blame Maytag for engineering a great design.....:D

"Sorry folks.....but I like drama....splashing......sudsing!"

Drama always comes at a steep price!!

Me thinks, our opinions change with time. Read some of the old threads in the archives, at one time tristarcxl opinions were voiced by many others. Anything that's no longer made obviously becomes more desirable. So Frigilux one day our indexing frigidaires will be collectors items, I still like my indexing frigidaire.

Maytag Neptune FL

I don't have one of these machines but not having a glass window in the door must make using one pretty boring as front loading washers go...

Most boring automatic washer?

Well, since there seems to be a HUGE bias toward Maytag machines. And since people have expressed dislike to Wascomat and Primus and I am always the odd one, I will voice my opinion with the following:

I have to agree with tristarcxl, Maytag topload machines are indeed boring. Small tubs(most i've seen on vintage models), good construction, and reliable(the vintage models), but boring. The frontload frigidaires are boring also, there's hardly any water in the machine. Maytag neptunes boring also, there's no window to see what's going on. Construction is OK, but with no window the fun is taken out of the wash experience.

A VINTAGE MAYTAG TOP LOADER ARE YOU FUKING KIDDING ME???

God only knows how many times I've watched a full cycle in one of these machines... one of the greatest shows on earth!!!!!!

I just finished load 17 in a vintage Maytag toploader for the people I'm house sitting for and I've been here for 26 hours!!! Their action may not be splashy and loud, but it's is very enjoyable to watch as it is a very soothing washing machine!!!
