So here's a shot of the motor on our Savage washer. I'm putting a new cord on it to replace the one someone gaffed on it. The gaffed one also had a third (green) wire, but I can't imagine it was used. My question is, would there be any advantage to replacing what would have been the original two-wire cord with a three-wire, and grounding the motor? If so, where would be the best place to attach the third wire?

One more question- I'm assuming that the upper right, lower left and bottom holes in the motor originally had screws in them. Would you leave well-enough alone (the motor works great) or put replacement screws in there?

Thanks for any help!

Chuck

The only advice I can offer is be careful. Let's not forget the Monitor fiasco, where after we did some wiring, I gave myself an unplanned EKG!!!!

All kidding aside, just be careful!!!

Hi! I have an old Savage!

Just wondering, does yours have grease under the inside stainless tub ball.I was thinking what keeps that gunk from getting on your clothes, everytime you move that inner-tub around. Thanks Bobby

I gave myself an unplanned EKG

Repeat after me: "I will listen to Bubba. I WILL listen to Bubba!"

I think I can handle a two wire replacement cord if I dared take on the project below (LOL)! BTW, for the Savage, I ended up using the same cord, two wires only (flipped it back up on its legs before the replies came in but WILL attach the earth ground in the near future) and WILL take a motor screw out and get a few more to replace the missing ones. Thanks all!![this post was last edited: 1/2/2014-21:19]

BTW

That pic is the Three Speed Resistor on the Sturtevant we got near Brimfield this past Fall. New thread with Sturtevant in the title will be showing up soon in the Super forum.[this post was last edited: 1/2/2014-21:20]
