Scott, so good to hear you've moved into your new home. I agree with Pete, your kitchen is so bright, and looks very cozy. Having that much open window space will be a a nice touch. Thanks for sharring!

Ben

Thanks for the compliments!

There are a few things left yet to do. Over top of the frig needs a sofit or dummy board to fill the rest of the gap. The ceiling fan has GOT TO GO! And I need to get a hood for the stove. The OTR doesnt cut it. Then finally it needs some paint.

The stove and frig are both Thermador. The frig is a Whirlpool built unit. Working for BSH makes it a little hard to buy another brand, especially for the difference in cost. After all I have to keep it in the family LOL.

PeteK Your right about it being a bright kitchen. You dont need light during the daytime. There also is another window to the left of the stove that doesnt show in the picture.

Shane, thanks fro the tip on the cleaner. I'm currently using the whirlpool flavor but i'm open to trying something else. Any perticular place you pick this up?

Scott, congratulations, your new house looks fantastic, especially the kitchen. I love those Thermadors; we saw a similar stove and refrigerator at our trip to the Great Indoors last year.

The Classic Omega is a nice surprise as well. I bet with a little Mother's polish and some elbow grease, it will clean up great.

Weiman's Stainless Steel Polish

Hey Scott..

Target here in Florida sells it. If you have difficulty finding it, I could always end you a few cans...let me know in an e-mail..

I like that kitchen very much! I am a "light, bright" person too, particularly where kitchens are concerned. How come you don't like the ceiling fan? In all events, you may send it to me if you don't want it anymore, I could use a new one in the dining room and that one would do nicely. ;->

Shane I bought some of that Weiman's stuff at Target and used it to polish my Royal vacuum. It worked quite well! I think I'm probably too compulsive to own stainless steel appliances though. I love my stainless sink but hate those times when I finish polishing it, then find a stray dirty dish or some other reason I have to run water. LOL!

Shane, do you have a stainless sink and if so do you use the Weiman's on that? I have some kind of spray polish I use, but might try the Weiman's if you've done that.

Scott

The ceiling fan is on a dimmer. Thats reel good for an A/C motor! Also I just never though a kitchen was the place for a ceiling fan. We will proabaly end up putting it in the bedroom since we managed to maul that one moving in.

I'm also with you on the stainless. Its a !@#$ to keep clean but it sure does look good when it is clean.

Light is a beautiful thing

I have these in my kitchen, bathroom and over the stairway to the lower level and they are wonderful.

I believe they are far superior to a skylight

I've wondered about those Solatubes if they actually worked or not. Our kitchen is on the dark side but since it has cathedral ceilings over it installing a skylight wouldn't be that difficult it just that I worry about future leakage.

Oh yes Scott I see what you mean about the motor and dimmer. You'll enjoy it in the bedroom though. I had one similar to that in my last bedroom. This place doesn't have ceiling wiring in the bedroom or it'd be perfect to have one here too!

Pete, my Dad has Solatubes in both his bathrooms and they seem great.

Hi Scott..

Nah..I just use Mr Clean on my Stainless sink and sometimes Bar Keepers Friend. **recommended by David-(Zipdang)** I use Weimans on the Stainless fridge, trash compactor, dishwasher and gas range.. oh, and also the stainless LG W/D- FL.

Ah yes Barkeepers Friend. Wonderful stuff. I should use that in the sink after Im done with the liquid stuff whose bottle is always clogging, LOL I use BKF in my stainless cookware. It polishes it out nicely and gets rid of that rainbow effect they seem to get from water or whatever.

The spray stuff is called Stainless Magic and I use that after the cleanser. Does a nice job.

I get more compliments on Stainless Steel appliances now that I changed from "polish" to just cleaning. I started using some Amway LOC cleaner I found at an estate sale and it stripped all the oils and gunk off the stainless finish, just leaving the steel - clean and dry. Once that is done, for daily care, you can wipe it with a dishcloth and dry with a clean towel and no fingerprints - perfect everytime. For stainless sinks, I just use Comet and a scrub-brush. Again, removing all oily coatings and soils, just leaving the steel clean and dry. I've had people call me when I've finished with their houses asking what I did - "it's never looked better!"
