Help Support :

Wonder why there're lots of good stuffs up there. In Atlanta, ocassionally we can find some Maytags

What a great find! My set is just a little newer than this one. I'm going to call my friend and find out when I can pick them up and get them home so I can start working on mine! Can you make more videos pleeeeease :-)

Roll Over

I saw the longer video, and was really surprised by the roll over of the Vari-Flex agitator. What cycle where you using Jed?

Thats' just way too cooool!!!!

Ditto everything above. ... And BTW,how did that beautiful piece get past Roberts'Radar?? Like Jon said, love the "Automatic ness". Gives me goose bumps imagining it; as I "hear" it going through all the functions ooohhh!!!
I have a 1972 (70 or 80)series KM with similar features,ie, solenoid detergent disp. bleach & fabric softener disp.,on loan to another member currently so he can "play" with it. It's fun having these great members we can share our "toys" with since we don't have an abundance of "great finds" on the west coast, as you guys do in MN. Ha Ha!!LOL. CONGRATULATIONS & ENJOY!!!

Got so jealous, I forgot to mention

So cool the labels are still intact, ie."Sears Best"& the green"feature" label next to the lid, LOL Always been one for owners manuals, signs, labels, etc.

Wow Jed, congratulations!!! What a great find. You just have to love the estate sales in Minneapolis!!

and from someone who isn't a Kenmore fan...

I must admit, I always loved this machine. It almost takes the prize for over-the-top could you have any more bells and whistles on one machine. Gotta have the color-coded buttons (and still wonder why, with 14 {count 'em},buttons why they just didn't lay out 3 wash temps, 2 rinse temps, 2 wash speeds, 2 spin speeds and 5 options?). Doink. And someone please explain to me why you need a "SPIN ONLY" button when the cycle control dial is only 7 inches to the right? Looks like Sears designers were trying to make a Maytag A906/GE WWA9500 hybrid. I'd love to know if that button is actually connected to any wires.

I always appreciated that you could have real working bleach, softener and powdered detergent dispensers on the two or three TOL Kenmores. And they never quite let Whirlpool follow in suit. And nothing beats that wood-grained garage door over the control panel! Is that to make your Sears Best Lady Kenmore even more lovely than it already is or is this so we can install our laundry pair right in the living room so it blends right in with the walnut-veneered panelling? Congratulations on a great find this machine is going to give you years of fun!

...and can we hear more about Elsie's?

Nice older Lady Kenmore! Great find, and it looks to be in very good condition. Now we know why Robert gave away his Filtrator! To make room for this Harvest Gold Lady K! Great choice Robert! (ducking and running) <:

And someone please explain to me why you need a "SPIN O

Ken, if you will notice on the timer dial just has a w r s on each cycle. There's acutally no designation of what the cycle is, to the uneducated user/eye. Remember, on this machine, you simply pushed a major cycle button, pulled out the timerr knob and rotated it until the knob stopped and you pushed in the timer knob to start the machine. The actual cycle sequence on the dial was enzyme soak, pre-wash, normal, perm press, and knit/sdelicate. Spin only was for spinning out stuff maybe handwashed or dripping wet from the pool or something. You pushed the spin only button and rotated the timer until the dial stopped and pushed it in. The stop point was the last 4 minutes of spin on the nornmal cycle.; If you put it on the increment before that, then you'd have the 4 spray rinses while it spun.

Ken:

The way presented is best; for SEARS' till, that is!

This way one can say it is pre-programmed and intelligent and one can charge a bundle for the "conveneince" If you know your fabrics, it "does the thinking for you".

For the rest of the world a simple chart above the machine on the wall or a cabinet will do.

Whites= > hot with bleach, rinse twice. Normal cycle
Darks => warm or cold NO BLEACH. Normal cycle
Delicates= > slow speed.
Peamanant Press => Uee this cycle if line drying, otherwise see above.

I know, I know it's extremely difficult...

(ducks and runs!)

Fun machine but value-added ("I NEED these features") is purely in one's head. N'est-ce pas?

As I already mentioned Jed - I'm only a little jealous, but not completely ;-)

Very glad the machine turned out to be so mint, and required almost no work to get it up and running! Remember - you don't need to commit to a Lady for life :D

Such a great washer, but the agitator is so big you loose so much capacity. With mine, I found that I got the best results when the agitator is dialed back to "medium-HI" so that the extended fins are just to the edge of the skirt. Congrats!

Very nice machine Jed. Love the white agitator and the tub gleams like new. I'm assuming there is room (and probably the mounting points) inside the control panel to add the fluorescent light.
