The very first 30 inch electric stove, 1950-52 Frigidaire..our neighbor Bertha Reavis had one also before the avocado one I have that was hers.

If it were closer

I would get it just to have, 1 its like new, 2 it brings back good memories..Mothers was gone by the time I came around, but I ate lots of great food off of the one Bertha had as a small child..I remember being fascinated by the glowing open coils when she would open the oven door!!

Frigidaire

Really started something with this, the size caught on quickly and soon was outselling the 40 inch which was considered standard at the time, although there were many variations...GE and Hotpoints were 39 inch, Norges were 38 and 41 inch, Sears sold 41 and 42 inch , Monarch made 32,36 and 40 inch.....These Frigidaires had what I thought was the best door hinge setup of any range, if you look close its almost like a piano hinge...and they NEVER got out of adjustment as did many old stoves.My Mom and Dad moved in with my grandparents in 56 and as Grandmother had a 54 Hotpoint, Mothers stove was sold, She always regretted it!

One of these resides in my neighbor's basement. I think she bought it for her grandmother with money from her new job as an airline hostess.
