My new 1963 Whirlpool Imperial Mark XII set

8900 is an Imperial. The Mark XII washer is 992, or 9-something.
Still wondering if thermostatic autodry was available in 1963.

Interesting thing is when I went through this dryer yesterday someone took all of the light bulbs out of it and only left the ozone light in for some reason. I cleaned all of the lint out of this dryer yesterday and even cleaned out the heating element plenum while I had the dryer apart yesterday evening. There was some burnt lint inside the heating element housing but not very much but I cleaned it out while I had everything apart.
Lovely set. All our kitchen appliances (and porcelain sink) were turquoise in the 1964 house (but not the 1962 WP washer and 1965 WP dryer).
I ordered a new blower belt for my new 1963 Whirlpool Imperial dryer and it should be here by this Friday. Will definitely try it out this weekend and will try drying a couple of loads of laundry in it to see how it does. Should work fine since it’s a Whirlpool 29” dryer
29" WP Built Dryers
WP built dryers from 1949-1965 were all good sturdy machines, BUT they tended to be slow and use more energy than the redesigned 29" dryers that came out in 1966.
Hi Sean, your electric MT HOH dryer may even dry faster than this 63 WP even with its 800 watt larger element than the MTs 4800 watt element, it will be a close contest, your gas HOH dryer will likely loose the speed test with the electric 63 WP.

My gas HOH will still be my primary daily use dryer but I will be using the ‘63 Whirlpool dryer to dry laundry every now and again. I will definitely be using the ‘63 Whirlpool dryer with the UV light to dry my mother’s work clothes since a couple of people at her work tested positive for covid-19 and I want to make sure all bacteria and viruses are killed off just to be safe

When I put the new fan belt on, I don’t see the part that moves the belt to the other pulley and didn’t see any remains of it when cleaning it out the other day. Hopefully I can source a replacement part soon for it. The normal and super speed will sort of work but it would change the air output from the blower/fan
Looks like the belt shifter is broken.

It looks fine, it looks like you have the belt on the wrong side of the shifter, the motor needs to be running when you shift speeds.
I have a restored 1965 WP Mark 12 gas dryer, if need be I could take a picture of the blower shifter.

That's a beautiful set, Sean, congrats! Whirlpool Mark X11 is one of my all-time top favorites. You may just like the Imperial dryer enough to let it be your daily driver. I have the Maytag HOH dryer hooked up with the 160 washer and almost never use that dryer.
I remember seeing a few Mark XIIs as a kid, always wanted one. Now I have three.
