Hey Fellas, I figured I'd show off my new dining room set... I found it when I was in Ohio last summer and fell in love. Special thanks to Dave (volvoguy87) and Wes (elginkid) for picking up/holding on to my dining room set for a few months. I know I owe you both one.

There is a 6th chair. The leaf was damaged and is being repaired and there just wasn't room at the table for all 6 without it. You can see it, a bit of a mess (please excuse it), my old kitchen table, and Fred Flintstone though the door.

I just wish I had a better place for the dishwasher... Oh well.

What do you guys think of yellow for the kitchen wall (you can see my paint swatch by the switch)? It's a little paler in person.

I'll probably keep it clothed for now. There are some scratches that take away from the beauty. Eventually I'll go over it with a stain to help blend them in better, but for now a cloth works.

I also would like to have the seats of the chairs reupholstered in a more MCM fabric. While the green is ok, it isn't original and doesn't quite work imho.

you have excellent taste !!!

very well coordinated kitchen /dining room with a MCM feel. I love how you have the dishwasher strategically placed !!! My mother would roll the mobile maid into the dining room when dinner started ( unless we have company) so she could clear the table directly to the dishwasher.

We have a Broyhill Brasilia set and did a grey/light yellow combo. We took our cue from Sherwin William's mid-century line. The yellow was a bit too bold, so we scaled it back a little. Congrats! The Saga line is also really striking!

Our dining room...

Here it is shortly after we finished painting and getting the furniture in. We've sinced changed the seat fabric and have another Brasilia piece to the right of the hutch that holds our extra china (we inherited a full service for 12). Our kitchen opens directly into the dining room, so the yellow is carried into the kitchen as well.

Very nice Will! I love the tint of the wood and the dishes on display in the china cabinet. You simply can't find anything built with this kind of quality these days.
I don't think that the dishwasher so close the table is a bad idea - one of the reasons why I keep a portable in the Ogden kitchen. I'm lazy, what can I say... LOL

Walnut is one of my favorite woods; enjoy. Nowadays you're lucky to get a vinyl walnut skin on top of particle board.

That definitely is a danish modern set. My parents had similar furniture around 61-63 or so. The cushions on the chairs could be an orange, yellow or avacado green type of fabric to be accurate. My parents had a similar dining room set and the seats were orange. The material was like of like a loose weave wool/cotton blend according to my sister.

I too love walnut wood. I remember working with it in high school shop class. It gives off such a nice distinctive odor when it is being turned or sanded.

If you can find this stuff it is a miracle in a bottle for scratched wood furniture. I've used it for years on antique furniture. It's basically a furniture polish with a stain in it which magically makes scratches disappear. Comes in either light or dark depending on the wood. There used to be a similar made by Aero wax but can't seem to find that anymore.. There's probably other makes as well.
