Both Miele Customer Service And Our Tech

Told us years ago that slower spinning washers last longer and that there wasn't much to be gained after 1100 or 1200 rpms.

At the time our Miele stopped spinning at 1100 and was trying to find out why/wanted it fixed, hence the response.

Suppose spinning at 1800rpms isn't that bad if the load is perfectly distributed and the cycle is smooth as silk, but often that isn't the case.

I think my W1986 has a max spin speed of 1200 RPMS for the final spin but I never use it anymore. I use just below for all cotton loads and everything works out well. One thing I found was that the spin speed between the rinses is slightly lower than the speed you select for the final spin, so sometimes I will leave the spin speed at 1200 for the spins between rinses, then lower the speed before the final spin so that it doesn't reach 1200.

I think my clothes feel better when the dryer removes the moisture instead of the washer. Might be just my imagination but I also have a natural gas dryer so I don't really worry about electricity used for drying.
