Let's talk about the competition?
Almost one year have past, now I have 1 or each The Laundry Alternative model with me and the Magic Chef 1.6 cu.ft.
I'm still impressed. this little wonder survived a trip from Dallas to Los Angeles laying on the back seat of a Honda Fit. with the drum full of stuff and tons of stuff around and on it.
I even overload it with a King size duvet. Until today I'm shoked, this beast washed it perfectly. (ok, i had to stop the cycle several times)
I's wonderful with full loads of towels.
No problems at all until today. It looks like brand new and I use it A LOT.
I helped a neighbor that is in a not very comfortable situation right now.... She lives with her mother, her brother (he is not only fat, he's huge, his shirts look like sheets) and two children with nasty clothes.
After over 4 months without doing laundry, she brought her clothes for me to wash. there were over 20 huge trash bags full of nasty dirty laundry. 4 days washign non stop and two huge boxes of detergent later, all her clothes are clean.
I'm still impressed. Minutes ago i just watched a Maytag Bravos XL video (other thread) and i can't stop looking at my little "chinese crap" and saying she's a queen. (not a speed queen LOL)
All the abuses my washer suffered in almost one year would compare to maybe 6 or 7 years of normal use.
It is still perfect, perfect, perfect like new.
No nasty softener residue smells and i love to use lots of softener, as I also love to use hot water and lots of bleach.
It really cleans and rinse well. It uses water!
Except for the "normal" cycle, which is a HE crap, when i select HOT it means HOT (the cold valve don't even think about opening)
When I select "cold" on jeans cycle, it mixes hot water for a few seconds... the "cold" is actually warm. the warm is warmer and the hot, well, it's HOT!
This SOAB mixes some hot water on the first rinse (jeans cycle) the first rinse is always luke warm, except when i wash in cold (the wash is luke warm and the rinse is really tap cold)
I don't want to sound mean and i don't want to punch any stomachs here but only to compare honestly.... IT WASHES CLEANER AND RINSES BETTER THAN A SPEED QUEEN!
I got the Magic Chef dryer too.... That tiny tumble dryer also surprised me. The linf filter is PITA to clean, but for the size and the price, what it does is amazing.
As I said before, if it lasts 2 years, it paid itself. But i can see it will last much more than that... I can dare to bet it will last between 5 and 8 years until the very first issue.
Those two "chinese crap" were super well designed and engineered. Of course i had to open both machines and see every mechanical and design details and what i saw surprised me. Some components are better built or engineered than TOL brand washers. I would never imagine a Chinese factory making such good washer. Definitely a washer built to last.
Please don't strangle me or hand me on a pole. That's my opinion based on what i saw. I seriously recommend both the washer and the dryer, and now I want to have the 2.1 cu ft washer too.
