Need a suggestion or two HELP!!!!

Hello,
I'm downsizing and moving to an apartment in Columbus. My current machines are a TOL Duet Washer and a 1975 avacado Maytag Dryer (talk about an odd couple). My apartment's laundry room is way to small to have them in there. There about 2 feet of space between the front of them and thew all so you have to do a dance to get in there and magic tricks to get the doors open. Another member is going to trade me his new Bosch Axxis set for my Duet which I think is awesome. Not sure if I should go that route or buy an all in one washer from Miele or LG or even consider an old Duomatic. Any help would be great. I'm leaning toward the Bosch set because they are very nice.....new....lots of control options..and they sit tightly together to form a nice counter top or I can stack them and save mula space. Please give me some pointers or suggestions. Thanks John

John, I hope you're aware the Axxis is a 240v (Euro) style power machine. The Bosch NeXXT are powered like your Duet.

If I understand your space limitations correctly you might want to consider getting a Top-Loading Staber washer and a Top-Loading Dryer like the Fisher-Paykel. If you're curious about the combination units, ask Peteski50. He has an LG Washer/Dryer.

Need a Suggesttion or Two

I have a small vacation home that is limited in space and well and septic capacity, so the big old Frigidare that was left there had to go(to really good friends who love it). I got a Haier front loader and I really like it, it seems to have all the options I need, and it was a budget price for a front loader. Plus it is really compact. There are only two of us so we dont do massive amounts of laundry at once, and I am a very picky sorter of clothes and loads anyway. I never even use the extra large button for loads on my Maytag at my regular home. I think that size matters if you are a big family- "throw it all in and hope for the best" type launderer, but I find myself to be more refined in sorting the loads/speeds/temps to suit the garments, and the smaller capacity compact for me is not a sacrifice at all. Comforters get sent to the dry cleaner/bulk laundry anyway.

Hi! John, have you thought about looking into the original Fridgemore Washer and Stackable Dryer Set? I've known several Friends that have these Sets and they really like them and have never had any Repairs on either the Washer or Dryer. Some of them have an Electric Dryer and some of them have a Gas Dryer.

I would actually myself look into the Kenmore Models, because that is what my Friends have bought and they seem to be the less prone to Repairs, between them and the GE and Frigidaire Models.

Kenmore

Kenmore sells three stacked top loading varieties. Two are Whirlpool and one is Frigidaire. The larger of the Whirlpool models is a good machine.
The smaller front loaders sold on the Kenmore label are the same as the GE and Frigidaire. Service on that model is more expensive if you call Sears. If you can find a better price somewhere else, I advise bypassing the Sears company.

I have the LG combo. It is a very nice machine. Very well made but the only BUT is the service sux. I would first find out in your area how many people service LG. I did take the extended contract. stackable European machines

Lots of European machines are stackable. But be careful - you need to have a stable floor and I would buy a good quality set. If space is really tight, you might even want to consider a condensing dryer.
I love my LG, but have never heard anyone have anything good to say about their service in the 'States.
I would not buy Whirlpool anything.
Bosch and Miele make very good machines, but you need to know that the stackable European dryers take longer to dry your clothes than the US machines do.
If you do have to go with a smaller dryer than the US standard, be sure to get one with a reversing drum. That way the clothes won't get quite so tangled up.

Oh, silly question, but would it help if the door were reversed or it opened out instead of in? I had a small area in an apartment once which I was able to use after changing the door around.
