Who ever needs to wash that much anyway? Even I with all the washing I do can cope with a 5 kilo machine :-p. The LG could get the average person down to 2 or 3 loads a month!!

Beautiful machines and look at those COLORS! Price is a little steep (it should be $3K for the SET) and who will know about the initial reliability?

Who says it is going to be heated?
That is not a local cultural imperative.

But i'm with you; IF a heater is on-board 220v makes more sense.

Perhaps the motor will pause (except for a very bried turn-over ever few minutes) while the heater is energized to maximize the allowable size of the heater.
 
OR if they were really smart.

Give it a std. 110v plug and cord (flex) with the option to rewire (by cutting off cord and adding one appropirate for North American 220v) at the terminal box, like older GE dryers. (You'd shift one wire from a 2nd hot-leg to the neutral t6o go from 220 to 110).

Then, have a procedure to re-program the "timer" (computer board actually) to ALLOW motor and heater use simultaneously.)
 
Conversion of 15 kg

I asked on another forum for a conversion for the 15 KG. Posters were in agreement that 15 kg is equal to 33.07 lbs of laundry. The Duet, by comparison, only hold 9.07 KG of laundry or 20 lbs.

That's incredible that this machine can hold over 1/3 more than the Duet!

There was also discussion that although commercial laundry standards vary, this capacity would be close to a triple load commercial machine!

This sounds right. I recall last time I was in the local laundry they had a sign up stating the double loaders would handle 20 lbs of clothes and the "senior" wascomat 35 lbs.

My only question would be what its dimensions are. If it is the same footprint as the Duet, that's great, but if it is larger I know a laundry rooms wouldn't handle it. On the other hand, I would be curious as to how they would be able to make it 1/3 larger without increasing either the depth or width compared to the Duet.

Hi Steve,
The full name of Goldstar Electronics was Lucky Goldstar this is where the LG comes from.

I think that 15Kg LG washer is awesome it's the answer for large families with a lot of laundry. Since I got my 8.2Kg Whirlpool top loader and my 7Kg Dyson Contra Rotator I could never go back to a pathetic 5Kg or 6Kg European front loader again, a domestic washer should be able to wash all bedding in the home including a King Size Comforter.
