I was at my local Publix today to pick up a few things and noticed the new Downy. I couldn't resist to smell the new April Fresh scent. So I open the bottle and I thought..OMG, Gross!! I am not a regular Downy user, but I remembered The April fresh scent was always very nice. What the heck is P&G thinking? Why do they always have to mess with a good thing?
Thank goodness I still have my Final Touch!

Que olor malo!

Ida know, I think a lot of men think softeners stink.

There was a comedienne that stated that softeners are for married women who want to mark their territory (man). No man doing his own laundry would tolerate that smell! So another women smelling that stuff on man knows he already HAS a woman.. *LOL*

Her words, not mine.

LOL - too funny (and so true). I bought some of the new stuff too. Not so thrilled with it as it smells WAY too strong.

My guess--

and this is only a guess..they are trying to compete with Suavitel.

The Hispanic market is huge and rapidly growing, and commodity companies are going to reach and fight for it.

I'm really surpised they would mess with the original (April Fresh) Downy. Don't get me wrong, here in the UK they are always pulling scents and then pushing new ones, or `revitalising' existing ones. But they don't tend to mess with the classics (Comfort Blue, Lenor Spring Awakening and Summer Fresh) I think there would be national outcry if they did.

My opinion is that they should leave the classics alone and mess about with the others. People who buy the classics are likely to be be people who don't want change and are brand loyal. Someone who buys mango and ginger one week probably won't care if it's kiwi and carrot peel the next.

Just my opinion!

Yes Jeff~
Final Touch is now owned by Phoenix Brands and can be bought in selected markets across the US. They are a dominant brand in the Northeast and now they are in select stores here in Florida.
It's not the original formula we remember with whitening. However, it smells great and the scent is not overbearing. It is also a great bargain at $2.99 a bottle!
Oxydolfan1 and AndrewinOrlando use it as well.

If you want, I could send you a bottle of Final Touch. I also, from time to time, use the cheapie pink fabric softener rinse which is a store brand. I like that for my sheets because it allows my sheets to still smell of Tide w/bleach powder scent which I love so much. I can't get that down here so I stock up when I am in NY.Maybe we can trade!

Used to be

That I could buy final touch here, I really liked it too as it was not nearly as syrup-y as downy.
I'd be happy to send you Tide w/bleach powder, its available here(I think anyway)Which flavor do you like?
I have about 1/2 a bottle of final touch left and use it very sparingly.
I normally use the cheapie store brand pink stuff, as it allows my stuff to smell liek the original Tide powder I use.

Trade sounds good to me!

One I Can Live With

The softener I use (and I'm a huge softener fan, just not of the stinky stuff) is Huish's "Cuddle Soft" in the "Mountain Fresh" variety. Cheap, works well, and comes in a mammoth 125-oz. jug that lasts a long time.

I found the PhoenixBrandsLLC.com Web site, but that it says that the site is still under construction, but coming soon. Looking forward to it's official opening, whenever that is. The Downy.com Web site is apparently up and running.--Laundry Shark
