Fred you must tell them

that it has, at the moment, a ONE OF A KIND power nozzle with this vacuum! The shipping was delayed as the standard Panasonic/Hayden power nozzle was not available, ( a long story that I won't bore you with), so Air-Way substituted this upgraded "Quiet Series" V-belt power nozzle.

As of today, it is unclear as to which power nozzle with be used with the Sani-Clean, (New Century), Centurian and Signature Series. At the moment, the Panasonic factory seems to missing!

The new power nozzle, which Fred can attest to, is much quieter, does have a heigh adjuster and all the same features of the former nozzle. It does not have a beater bar, but a special chevron brush design that, from reports from Fred, does a very good job cleaning.

The purple/lilac color was reserected from the original model 55 canister, the first canister Air-Way made after the two motor upright and subsequent issues with Hoover--(see an earlier thread on that story). It debuted in the mid 1940's and was followed by the model 55A in blue of which there are many survivors.

Thanks Fred for sharing and give us more feedback about your initial use with it.

86 years!!

Boy Air Way has been around along time!!! Fred, A gorgous machine!! What do the tools look like? Is there a floor brush? and a telescopic wand like the 2000 version!? i love my Centurion, I'm going to take out and use it now!

AirWay -

Fred,
Your going to love that machine. I bought one from Charlie at the mini-meet in Feb. It is my daily driver. I can not beleive with all the vacuuming I do the amount of dirt the AirWay found in this house. I have gone through 3 Bags since it arrived.

Have Fun!!!

Ooooooooooo pretty!

Dig that lilac color! Very snazzy. May we see an underside pic of that Power Nozzle? I am VERY curious to see what's going on there. What's the hose like? Is it crush-proof???

LOL no I have never even seen a picture of a commercial Concept One. And if I did, I'd sell that picture of it on ebay for big bucks. :)

Oh Fred, I am so happy for you!! You are going to love the Air Way!! Next you will have to get the Air Tech tools to go with it. I just got those from Charlie and they are wonderful. Have fun and be sure and let us know how you like the machine. Terry

very nice

I'd love to try that powernozzle sometime too...

Corey: be careful what you wish for, you never know, it might just come true!

Initial Review...

Well, I've used it twice now. The Air-Way is Fantastic! I couldn't be happier. I do love the throwback to the purple color. And, it's amazes me how well it cleans!

The powerhead is wonderful. It's lightweight, easy to maneuver, and I think it's just as sturdy as the previous model... I can't believe how quietly it runs! The wooden brushroll and the quiet-drive belt really seem to do the trick. It also grooms the carpet very nicely-especially Mom's frieze. Oh, and it has rubberized rear wheels, too.

The hose is indeed crushproof, and swivels 360 degrees at the handle and 90 degrees at the machine. No telescopic wand.

The attachments are as cheap as they come. It's really too bad the Air-Way sold the dies for their original attachments. Those were really what made an Air-Way an Air-Way. I am probably going to order a set to go with this machine, from Air-Tec (who currently owns the dies).

Here are some pictures of the powerhead, taken apart.

Yes-I have one of those Air Way Centurions and love the machine-Mine has the "Panasonic" style power nozzle. Also you can DOUBLE the airflow of the Air Way vac by using the Filtrete style "Air Tec" bags in it-when I used the original Air Way Multilayer paper bag I got a reading of 3 on a Biard airflow meter. With the Air Tec Filtrete bag it was 6!There is a very slight discoloration on the white HEPA filter in the Air Way when you use the Filtrete bags in it.Mine is now sevral years old and I have lots of enjoyment from it.The cyclonic action and the bag cage allow you to COMPLETELY fill bags-the cage equalizes air pressure on the bag-you can then fill it more than on other canister vacs.I got the Air Tec Bags thru the Air Way dealer in Charlette, don't have the info with me at this time. Can get it for other Applianceville folks that would like to try the Air-Tec bags in the Air Way machines.

There they are!

That is a nice powerhead! It's interesting they used that ribbed belt, just like a dryer belt, I'll bet it will last a long time. Thinner belt means less dead space and more cleaning. I'll bet it kicks a$$ with the suction from that machine. Very nice indeed!
