Well after two months of searching and a few potential deals gone bad I have finally found a new car. I picked this baby up from an estate with 42,000 well kept miles.

Heres my 2008 Buick Lucerne CXL in ming blue metallic with chrome package and it sports a gray leather interior with plenty of wood trim, heated seats, and heated steering wheel

Looks great, congrats!

If I remember correctly, your previous Buick had a ton of mileage.

That's called "Getting you moneys worth!"

Here's to many years and hundreds of thousands of miles

My Grandparents just picked up an 06 model of the same car, in a medium tan color. I haven't had the oppertunity to ride in it or drive it yet, but it looks like a really nice car. It seems like Buicks run forever, a friend of mine has a 1991 Park Avenue with a ton of miles and I swear it is more reliable than my car (I have a 2000 Mazda 626, never again). Another friend has a 2000? Lesabre with well over 200,000 and still going strong. My next vehicle may well be a Buick.

my 02 Park ave

has 156k on her still goin strong few minor things nothing serious yet
would love to find another one
our local Chrysler dealer has a 92 Roadmaster with 99k on it for 2995 seriously considering it

Unfortunately

My 95 Century Estate Wagon has some rusting frame problems because of the crap they put on the roads in the winter here in Maine that rots the whole underneath, so it wont pass the state inspection anymore. It is now up for sale and it would make a nice car for someone that can fix it because it still runs perfect, gets great gas mileage and only has 86000 miles. Hate to part with it, but its time to look for another (hopefully Buick).

My sister & brother-in-law had an '08 Lucerne until my sister hit a patch of black ice 2 winters ago and ripped out the whole underside when she hit the ditch.  It was silver w/ a light gray cloth interior, super sharp looking, and a very smoooooth ride.

Congrats Sam!

Sam, you definitely scored big with all those extras.  Buick has been top-rated in customer satisfaction for quite some time now, and if I recall correctly has even bested Lexus some years.  Happy motoring!

GOOD LUCK,

Hope it was built better than the 2011 Lucerne I purchased brand new had for 8 months with 4k miles on it and made GM buy it back at a loss of course!  Always supported American Cars esp GM, but now no way!

GM treated me like a peice of Sh_t, which was what the car was!  Engine would idle up and down then run so lean that the steering wheel would shake, GM claimed this was common in flexfuel cars, bs!

Another GM dealer told me that it was built on the old Pontiac Bonneville Platform which was also another disaster. However you would think since "the thing" was built in the Cadillac factory next to the DTS (which they don't make anymore either) that some quality would have rubbed off on the Buick line but that was not the case.

GOOD LUCK.

Congrats! My best friend and partner recently lost their Century to, um, accident. And they found that Buicks have become trendy and out of their range - is anyone else noticing this?

Buick (or people selling used ones) could be capitalizing on the fact that they're all that's left between GM's entry level Chevrolet and top of the line Cadillac.

Thanks for the Comments guys.

QSD-Dan, yes my 1999 Park Avenue has 170k on it, and the 90 LeSabre I used to have had 185k on it, both with the 3800 engine. I am keeping the Park Avenue to drive around town and in bad winter weather as I'm not ready to let her go.

Gansky-1, I have purchased all but 2 cars through either estates or from elderly who are no longer able to drive, best wa to get a good deal, I paid $4,800 under book value for mine.

Fred S., I'm glad someone noticed what my plate said. Plenty of people stare at it and with puzzled looks try to figure it out without luck.

Ralph, I think I did well, only thing I feel I'm missing is ventilated seats to keep the buns cool in summer. Even if Buick wasnt top ranked I'd still get one as I have always favored them above everything else, plus with the track record I've had I wouldnt think twice.

Drewz, I feel mine will be fine, as I think if there were major issues from the factory they'd be found by now, besides mine is the final year for the trusty old 3800 V-6. I personally could have got a 2011 leftover but didnt as I dont know about the new 3.9L and I know a 3800 and trust it. As for the Lucerne being made along side the Cadillac DTS, there is no quality there to rub off, I had a 2001 DeVille(same as the DTS) and it was the worst car ever, tranny went out at just over 60k, was running warm, and the POS engine burnt oil, 1 quart every 1500 miles(normal from the factory) and the aluminum Northstar engines had a tendency to overheat and warp the head once the gasket blew.

Davey7, I know Buick has become a bit more popular, but I wouldnt say trendy. I looked at new Veranos and for under 25k they seemed nicely equipped. As for value around here Buicks have always had a pretty high retail value, people are selling and getting $6k out of an 01 Park Avenue with 120k. What I bought has easily been selling for $18-19k but I paid $14k. Buicks have always been popular here so I see nothing different

Wow! I'm 38 and on my 5th Buick...there were a couple of Caddys, Chryslers, and an Infiniti at some point. :). I like comfort. :)

What Can I say Dan, in 10 years I've had my share of cars, In addition to the 4th Buick I've had 1 DeVille, 1 Impala, and a Town Car. The Town Car is just a toy o I've had a second car to supplement it. I enjoy a change in cars and Big luxury but when I go non Buick I long for another Buick which causes me to get a new one

Congratulations!
That car is very beautiful and it looks very comfortable too.

It's nice how american cars are big. (and look heavy too)
I love this imponent front. it makes me think it hides a very powerful engine.

What's the gas consumption? Is it manual or automatic transmission?

I loved the color too. Blue is my favorite color. I can say that because i bought a new car 2 weeks ago and I'm already tired of it's color. When i bought it I thought it would be fun to have a funny color for the daily driver, now my friends and family say i'm driving a Post It note.

By the way, there's something I never understood. How does the american license plates system work? As I could see, people can write almost anything on plates and the plate belongs to the owner, not to the car.

Here in Brazil we have a 3 letter-4 numbers standard. The first letter is the state (My state, Parana, is A or B.). the sequence is choosen randomly by the system or people can pay (actually donate $40 to a charity institution chosen by the traffic department) to choose 2 letters and the four numbers, if the sequence is available on the system. Once you buy a brand new car and you license it, the plate will die with the car. If you move to another city or you sell the car to someone in other city, the oly thing that changes is the city name.

And the worst thing that someone can do is crash the car damaging the plate. Replacing the plate is a nightmare. Of course the letters and numbers can never be changed, but you have to fill a huge form justifying why does it need replacement, pay $200 for the application form, return the damaged plate (or the remainings of it), pay $75 for each plate plus $150 for the wire seal. (yes, there are the 2 or 4 standard screws plus a numbered wire seal that looks like a zip tie.)

American license plate system

The policies with license plates vary from state to state.

I live in Washington. We have two plates (one for front, one for rear). One gets a number at random, unless one buys a "vanity plate." Vanity plates cost more, but one can select what it says, as long it's unique and I think anything offensive (swear words, for example) is not allowed. A standard plate stays with the car when the car is sold, but a vanity plate stays with the owner, and if the car is sold, the new owner needs to buy a new plate. In either case, one needs to buy a new plate every so many years. (The reason given: the reflective quality of the plate wears out eventually.)

One also needs to buy tabs every year to keep the registration current. The tab is a small sticker that gets placed on the back plate. Tab renewal date varies car to car (it depends on the date of orginal registration).

If I were to move to another state, I'd have to tranfer the registration to that state, which would mean a new title of ownership and new plates.

Yeh, since we've lost Pontiac, I really can't say Saturn counts either...!

The newer cars go, the older some people should buy...!

I'm in the market for something "gently used" but grand, myself... (Though my sister is leasing a very nice, new Regal!)
