Launderess-I know, thanks! I wound up not going anyway.

In truth, a lot of appliance/vacuum stores around me carry Persil now....unfortunately, the liquids generally sell out immediately and they usually only have the humongous box of the original powder and maybe the megapearls in stock...everything else is forever "on backorder", seemingly.

For one bottle, I'd be willing to pay premium price and lug it on the subway. I like to browse around that store anyway!

Jason-I like the Canadian Tide Lemon powder-especially with the new Downy w/Febreeze Citrus and a shot of vinegar in the rinse, but, as you said, it does suds up for DAYS (remember, it's not the "ultra" concentrated formula, but the old school original!

I'd rather have the Sunlight 3X lemon liquid from up there, because it's more like our Wisk, but that'll have to wait till I can work a drama and make a trip up there....

At Liquidators the other day, I scored a 30-use box of plain Cheer powder and another Canadian product I'd never seen before..."Bounce Extra Strength For Winter" in "Warm Winter Scent"!!

I do use softener sheets on occasion. Again, this product seems better than a lot of our products.

About Lemon Tide, Canadian all, and Persil..

My Tide Lemon-Fresh Canadian was ULTRA-formula, not regular fluffy-style. My Canadian all IS the regular, non-concentrated stuff. In the past, I had brought back huge boxes from Canada of the all in it's concentrated formula. That stuff had a great fresh smell that did not linger too long, and rinsed-out well. Since it had NTA, it was GREAT at removing the body-soil(oil and such)and was worth the schlep. As for the Persil liquid, I seem to not be able any longer to get the same formula that I originally bought in July '05. I still have the empty bottle, and it is superior to the one I currently have in the Kraft-and Color-Gel formulas! I am awaiting a reply from germany on my findings. How many guys are willing to spend the time I do analyzing and thoroughly trying new detergents from all over the world? I STILL have a box of mid-50's all detergent, that I have used a few times. it has NO scent at all! I had tried the regular BIG box of Persil powder(with perborate bleach) about 5 years ago, and did not like the stuff. My wash did not have the kind of fragrance I like-it smelled quite weird, actually! And, YES, I DID use enough of it to accommodate for our large-capacity US washers. Jay

Why NTAs Are No Longer In Many Laundry Products

Trisodium nitrilotriacetate (NTA)

Used as a builder in laundry detergents, NTA is listed as a possible human carcinogen (IARC 2B) by the International Agency for Research on Cancer. It also has an adverse environmental impact because it can impede the elimination of metals in wastewater treatment plants. NTA's action can cause metals that have already settled out to be re-mobilized back into the liquid waste stream.

So, as with other things, detergent formulas have been removing NTAs from their products, especially those looking to tout how good they are for the environment.

NLO is a great place to shop, there is one down in SoHo and one can almost get too crazy spending. Nabbed tons of Spray n Wash "Pink" oxygen bleach for about $1.50 a canister last time I shopped there.

How about a

I'd really love to chat by regular email(my Yahoo!) or maybe even get to meet some of you "local" guys i person. What fun we could have discussing our favorite subjects! Anyone interested? Jason

Yeah, when certain dramas in my personal life calm down, and I feel a little more settled on this board (I'm new, VERY new!)

BTW, where did you get Turkish Ariel Color?

Where I got Turkish Ariel...

Hi! My local friend from Turkey brought it back for me, upon request, when she came back here from visiting her family there 2 years ago. It smells GREAT-not strong-but cleans well, despite no enzymes. I just add either a little capful or a tablet of Spray-n-Wash enzyme booster. I just want to avoid the optical brighteners. I am always trying new stuff when I can getr it! J

I smelled the new

I was at Wal=Mart last night, and really, REALLY wanted to smell the new "Perfect-Fit" formula. While there APPEARS to be a sealed-by-plastic-film cap, it is NOT packaged that way, so I discovered. I NEVER give-up the quest to smell all there is out there for detergents! LOL
What I DID discover, is that the scent is merely one that smells very much like "new clothes", and not perfumey or fruity at all! It will NOT work for me, however, as I cannot imagine my wash smelling fresh that way. Go check it out for yourselves, because you won't be breaking any seals to do so! :)
