Peteski - I know we've met before.
I've been an appliance repair technician now almost 25 years. I've worked on or operated just about every model type machine there is out there. I could understand if you doubted my word if I was, say, exploder, but this is me you're talkin' to here. I know where of I speak and I'm just trying to help, but if you are not aware who you should be taking advice from by now, you are not paying attention.
Like Toggle says, the bouncing and falling water will probably be enough to clean the plate, but if you really want the machine wash action to do it for you, it's better if you put the dirty side towards the spray jets.
Now, this may look different to you than how most folks load them, but it's based on a lot of experience, and not just following the crowd because that's how everybody else does it.
Best of luck.
