Within the last several months we lost both of our much-loved cats, Coco and Zsa Zsa. Each one made it to 16, then developed heart failure, kidney trouble, and other old cat maladies which ultimately led to them being put down within two months of each other. After that, we were catless for a few months, which is a very strange feeling after so long! Truly, a house without a cat is just a house, not a home.

We remedied the problem last Tuesday. Pandora is 14 weeks old, and this is a rare shot of her when not in motion. She's a real delight, and didn't even complain during the 120 mile drive home after picking her up from the breeder. We'll get her a suitable companion in due time, but at the moment it's just so much fun having a little furball in the house!

Congrats on your new arrival! She is so pretty. Looks like she has that really soft type of hair, which I really like. Enjoy!

Sorry for your loss

I had my first cat for 16.5 years, so I can understand how hard it was to put them down. However, your new baby will be more spoiled than ever thought possible (at least by Pandora).

Good luck with her and have a wonderful time with kitty.

With a happy outcome! Yes, it is quite amazing how these warm fuzzies become SO much a part of our lives.

"Muffin" is an eleven y/o Tuxedo male, and yes ; there would be quite a VOID w/o him. And it seems he becomes increasingly closer to me (bonding)as time goes by.

Muffin was a "rescue", brought to his foster caregivers home by her Great Dane; and cared for until adopted by us.

Perhaps a suitable companion will find you as close by as your local Humane Society, and (the best part);be saved from the inevitable. Good luck, & God bless

BTW, Just used my B-day coupon (before it expires tomorrow)from Borders Books, and purchased the book "Dewey" the small town library cat I've heard so much about. ...LoL

Lucy and Ethel---

were sisters that I raised since their mother died during her birthing 6 kittens. She bled to death.I had them for 12 years and lost them both within 4 months of each other.Being a few thousand miles away and having hundreds of stray, unwanted cats,I am currently attempting to tame two adorable kittens. So far, they come in and eat but scurry out as soon as the food's devoured. Both are callico.

Thanks for all the nice thoughts, guys, and good luck with your wild calicos, laundromat! Our Zsa Zsa was a calico Persian, and we wanted another once she was gone. They're hard to find, so we ended up doing quite a search to find Pandora. Calicos are normally only female, and any male calico is sterile, so you can't breed two of them to get calico kittens.

My mother used to have an irresponsible neighbor who would take free kittens and put them in her backyard and feed them, but never had them spayed or neutered. She meant well but after awhile there was a whole crew of feral cats there who stayed after the lady moved. Mom eventually was able to partly tame most of them by offering food in her backyard and gradually moving it closer to the house. Patience is a supreme virtue here!

She is adorable. I really like her colors, first time I've seen a long haired calico. I bet she is a non-stop ball of energy.

Beautiful new baby. She is adorable. I take it she is a Persian cat since she has that punched in nose. Persians are alot of work and they can have breathing problems and eye discharge. But with some work and a daily wipe of the face she wont have problems. They do require alot of grooming though. As much as I love a long haired cat and would love to have one again. But since our 4 are all short haired its easier to take care of them. They still shed like the dickens and they are shedding their summer coats now...I know since I have to vacuum every day.
Also too this is kitten season in many shelters you may want to get a friend for her right away so that way there isnt any territory issues since she is new. Persians can be a bit of a pill when they are the only cat for a while and then you decide to introduce another..it will not go well. In fact it might get nasty. When you think you know your cat and they wont have a nutty..guess what they will surprise you. I know been there a few times.
