A little off topic, but here is their new FL models.

( I like the detangle option on the dryer )

this machine gets pretty good reviews online, malcome i love that ge FINALLY integrated the pedistal in the machines, i have been saying "why don't they do that" for YEARS! it's rediculous that they charge $300 for EACH pedistal on top of the $1200 price tag of a machine! when all is said and done you could spend over 4k just for a washer and dryer pair! eugene i did want the immersion care, but decided i really need a machine with an internal heater and a higher spin speed and bigger capacity, this machine seems to be a good one, made in the usa too! not korea like the samsung.

Toploader1984-- You are wise to get a washer with an internal heater, since 90 degrees seems to be the temp at which these machines top out. The mega capacity and higher spin speed are strong arguments for the GE as well.

Malcolm-- The GE front-loaders are intriguing, aren't they? I'm guessing the detangle option on the dryer is a reversing tumble. Cool!

ge top load

interesting, consumer reports says its noisy yet almost all of the customer reviews say its very quiet, well this would be a problem for me because my washer is on the main floor literally next to my bedroom (ugh, oh well) i guess my next chice is a samsung, it topped CRs list of most quietest machines.

no these are ge's own design, they still make the ge harmony top load which is a re-badged lg, why they need two different designs is beyond me.

The GE Hydrowave are a nice washer, if GE is used that same technology and tweaks it for the new washers they might just have a big hit. The only thing is how reliable will any GE product be?

cr

consumer reports also tested my ge dishwasher, 10ww model, they said it was noisy, I CANT EVEN HEAR MY DISHWASHER!!! it's like the people working in the lab are on drugs or CR is being paid off or something, seems like all they recommend is foreign cars, foreign appliances..... they think if it's usa made it is crap.

CR

I have also noticed how CR tends to favor foreign made products over domestic.  Especially white goods.

I wonder

what the DE-TANGLE option actually does? Why? Because let me tell you that is a NEEDED option in every dryer I have ever owned. Washing large items will most of the time roll into a ball and middle is still damp while outside is bone dry. I've always hated that. It happens EVEN if I use three tennis balls.

Consumer Reports

I've noticed Consumer Reports tends to always favor foreign manufacturers in everything from cars to appliances. And they don't pay attention to anything before they publish it. I've seen so many mistakes about features on washers its not even funny. They'll say it doesn't have a bleach dispenser and it does. The biggest thing I know that's crazy is they'll take 2 machines, which in essence are the same machine with different "buttons" and one will clean better than the other- which simply is not so, since the guts of them are exactly the same. So I take what they say with a grain of salt.

That de-tangle option adds reverse tumbling to the dryer. The dryer has 2 motors, one for the drum and one for the fan. I uploaded the manual to my iPad and it makes for interesting reading. I do agree about the CR ratings favoring foreign made stuff. I just got a letter from them begging for money donations. Ummm the magazine costs an arm and a leg on the news stands and the reports are not as thorough as they used to be and the "Select Ratings" crap I can do without. I do go online and look at the entire ratings.
Anyways I do like the new GE washers and they smell of LG all the way and the new dryers as well.

ge top load

stopped in by lowes today, they had a new ge top load that was plugged in, played with the controls a bit, put it on spin, it is VERY quiet! control panel seems very sturdy, love the cool blue led lighting.
