Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

"Cold/Tap Cold"

Before I left THD and my appliance career, my three factory reps told me the same thing (MYT, GE, LG). "Cold" is tempered with the addition of warm water thru the valve to about 65F degrees to allow for correct dissolving of powdered detergent and additives. According to them, liquid treatments did not need this option. Where I live (SoFL), the tap water is usually warm enough to dissolve above-mentioned powders, even in winter. Also true for the SoWest USA. In NJ or its enviorns, "tap cold" is apt to be just short of freezading! Some newer models have a "cool" selection which accomplishes the same thing.

Recirculating Simpson

We had one of them. There was the standard inner tub like any top-loading machine. The outer was also present. In order the save water, a pump kept the water out of the outer tub in order to save a couple of litres of wash water.
Unfortunately, Simpson only used a cheap linr filter design, resulting in numerous complaints. On ours, that pump stopped working. The machine never threw as the beeps and errors it should have, so I have no clue what really happeed. When it was replaced last October with the Miele, I wanted to open it. We gave it away before I had the chance. I do wander if that washer is still doing its horrid thing somewhere...

I see drain holes in the tub at the bottom of picture #2. I think it is standard drain. Kenmore.. How did we get off in this solid tub thread? I am confused. I think the thread indicated solid steel has to do with the rod attachment points, on the outter tub, not the inner tub? i could be wrong? I think the side spiral holes in the inner tub are just not in the pictue. Either way i do not feel compelled to run out and purchase one. alr

New VMW belt drive washers

Are complete garbage in my eyes! They perform very poorly in terms of cleaning, they are noisy, constantly go off balance, have cheap plastic parts and apparently, cheap bearings!

Here is a video of a 2 year old, that's right 2 YEAR OLD Kenmore belt drive that already has bad bearings, come on! That's worse than the amanatag's...I'd rather wash my clothes in the sink than buy one of these. If you buy one of these your just asking for a headache!
