It makes perfect sense. I assume the powerwash cycle is for really dirty items, while the mixed cycle is for blended cottons.

William8 it was $1549 for the pair but again, it was Memorial Day, and it looks like they are up a bit right now from that price.

 

You got a great deal on the TC5 - they were running about $1320+ around here at the time I bought my Maytag set.  I hope yours serves you well for a long time!

That seems decent

Seems like a decent price for the pair, if that was delivered. Our local appliance store had the SQ marked $1329, just like all the online dealers, but were willing to deal. Probably could have got a few bucks off the Maytag or GE's as well with free delivery, but didn't ask.

They are getting rid of all Whirlpool products. Said they were having trouble getting parts, although if that improves, they will bring them back. Their motto has always been "Its service that counts!" in big neon letters! They have been around since 1945. We have bought almost all our major appliances and TV's there, and they beat the big box stores on price. They dropped TV's about 10 years back

You didn't say where you got them? Big box stores still only give a one year warranty, even on the GW's.

I really did like the control panel on the Maytag, looks very heavy duty. And the four water levels. I get four, but by choosing different cycles or deep fill. No need for a dryer, they last a long time, and I don't care if they match, they are in the basement anyways.

I hope we both have long service from these. My old Maytag was 35 years old, I was beggining to think it would last forever...

New Maytag washer and dryer commercial home set

Hi John I predict you’ll get a lot of good use out of these machines and given the price difference between the Speed Queen TC five washer and dryer pair I think you’ll do very well.

The Speed Queen TC five is definitely a more durable long-term design and it will require less service calls in the first 10 or 15 years. Speed Queen do not eat belts every five years they wouldn’t sell a machine with a five year warranty where they were gonna have to pay for warranty call on any percentage of them.

The Maytag dryer you got is the equal of the Speed Queen and is easily the best dryer ever made that carried the Maytag name it’s a very rugged four roller design. That’s easy to service drys fast and very durable.

The other advantage of the new Maytag commercial top loader is it’s more energy efficient than the TC five with its faster speed spin, so it’s likely even if it doesn’t last as long you’ll save money compared to having the Speed Queen in the long run.

Hanging strut suspension has been used on automatic washers since the early 1970s. It allows faster, spin speeds and much less vibration, compared to a milk stool type suspension systems the other nice advantage of the hanging suspension is if it does wear out or give you problems it’s very easy to just change the four struts after 10 or 20 years if they start to wear or if you have problems,with The damper in milk stool type suspension systems. It will often total the machine to say nothing of being a very expensive and difficult repair.
