Today I'm making the traditional good luck menu: black-eyed peas and cabbage (I'm making cabbage rolls). I've never made cabbage rolls and I couldn't find my mom's recipe, so I'm winging it. They are in the oven now - 1950 O'K & M of course. I placed chopped celery and carrots in the bottom of the pan and poured 1/2 cup each saki (plus some for the cook-LOL) and water in the pan. I'll cook for awhile, then take the juices and veggies from the pan to use in a tomato sauce to cover the rolls, and cook a little longer.

The peas simmering. I used fresh frozen instead of dry peas, onion, garlic, good beer (yes, I'm a beer snob), chicken stock, smokey bacon, and Tony Chachere's Creole seasoning.

Before a mega arguement with my parents about the bobload i just put in the dishwasher, which by the way is cleaning impeccably, completely the opposite to what they thought. Shines with glory lol. We had the family round again, like a mini xmas day, A roast chicken, roast duck and roast beef early tea. Mum likes plenty of choice when it comes to meat and family get togethers so she chooses 3. Homemade pea and ham soup to start and raspberry pavlova for the pudding course. The usual fresh fruit and nuts for the dessert course. I hate people who call something concocted and sweet "dessert" as its not. Only fresh fruit and nuts should technically called DESSERT and it really bugs me. Anyway kettles just boiled, time for a nice cup of PG. Happy new year guys and gals. Nick

Thus far, nothing. Haven't eaten since last night.

Later, leftover lemon/garlic pork loin, green bean casserole, and instant smashed taters ... all of which was done last night.

Unless I can get my debit card to work again at Wal-Mart, in which case it may be chicken enchiladas, the leftover green bean casserole, Fritos & honey/ancho salsa, and caramel apple coffee cake.

Ok.. Who can i come visit for dinner??? LoL...

Looks great.. All i had was a quater pounder with cheese at mcdonalds... Would like something nice, but ot probably will wind up being left over spagetthei

FYI: Daddeos- My debit card has never worked at Wal-Mart..Even the bank can't figure out why! 5 debit cards later, i just gave up... Credit works ok, but not debit.. Walmart said i might have an outstanding check and thats why, but i never had a check book in my life, so who knows
