Frost Free
Westinghouse introduced Frost Free in 1950 I believe, It was a hot gas defrost system that had a counter button on the cabinet after so many door openings the system was activated and the hot gas was sent thru the freezer defrosting it, Not at all like the later food drying fan systems that are used today.

Retrofit? Like a compressor? They don't say whether it's in running condition. $650 is steep even if it's in proper working order.
I wonder why the fridge door liner is discolored but the freezer door's isn't.
