I just finished adding 5 Frigidaire brochures from 1980 to the Ephemera Library. These have to be the very first models that Frigidaire offered after the sale from General Motors to White Consolidated.

1980 Frigidaire Washers and Dryers
1980 Frigidaire Dishwashers, Disposers and Trash Compactors
1980 Frigidaire Cooking Appliances
1980 Frigidaire Refrigerator-Freezers
1980 Frigidaire Air Conditioners and Heat-Pumps

I'll never forgot that day is right Eugene. It was in college in 1981 and took the bus to a shopping center where there happened to be a Frigidaire dealer. Sure enough I opened that lid and I saw a Westinghouse! I remember my heart dropping and thinking there was some kind of mistake or temporary switch.

The only silver lining was I happened to notice he had a bunch of agitators out around the store, nothing of any great interest but I asked him by chance if he had any old Frigidaire agitators. Sure enough he came out with a used 1959 3-Ring agitator, with the turquoise cap and pulsator! I had only seen a 3-Ring agitator once in my life, that was in a laundromat around 1970. That three ring agitator came back to my dorm room and hid under my bed for the rest of the year. :-)[this post was last edited: 11/24/2014-19:05]

" I'm willing to bet the farm none of us will forget the shock of opening the lid on a 1-18 only to find..."

an exact likeness, not fully formed however, of Frig!

I was at work where we sold FGM when we got teletype from our rep saying " GM SLAMS CAR DOORNON.FRIGIDAIRE .SELLS BRAND.NAME KEEPING FACTORY TO MAKE NEW COMPACTS. WHITE CONSOLIDATED INDUSTRIES BUYS HISTORIC REFRIGERATOR CORPORATION FROM GENERAL MOTORS." I literally burst into tears and took a week off. Never been the same since.
