Keep in mind the 29" dryers come in several capacities - 5.9, 6.5, and 7.0 cu. ft. The 27" models that match TL washers are 7.4 cu. ft. The 7.4 cu. ft. drums have slightly different proportions; that is, they are deeper in relation to diameter. It is probably a combination of larger capacity and drum proportions in the 27" machines that cause less tangling in them, especially compared to the 5.9 cu. ft. model.
I have heard, both here and otherwise, that the 29" models are more reliable than the 27". Also, as the drums are deeper in the 27" dryers, the cabinet is about 1.5" deeper, causing it to protrude further out into the room. This is more of a problem if it's in a line of cabinets. I prefer the 29", though the one I bought to match the Calypso (but never have used) is the 27". I may consider selling it and getting the 29" model.
