Hmm...

The Elite didnt go for huge $$ either!

Hopefully someone from here got it- guess it would have gone for more if the box had been perfect etc...

the elite didnt exactly go for peanuts! odd that the early models had different bearings. wonder what the amperage is on that early elite. i thought i remembered the early elites clearly but i guess i dont. that model looks a little alien to me.

amps

on early Elites were still "sane"

I have not seen it yet, but this model was more "deluxe" so I am guessing it will be either 6.0 or 7.0 amps...given that its really early I'd guess 6...

If I remember correctly Hoover had three levels of Elite amps, 4.5, 5.0 and 6.0. There was a 7.0 amp model too, just don't remember if it was with the initial introduction or came later.

For all of the 90's and then some Hoover fought the legend that more amps meant better performance...Elite motors grew to be 7.0 and 7.3 amps, but it was a losing battle. It was maybe 5 years ago or so that Hoover switched everything to 12amp motors.
The sound of a 12 amp Elite was enough to wake the dead!
