Pic. 3. This Tide bar has the old P&G LOGO ( That Moon Man ) on the back.
Was this the logo that was controversial from some religous group, that they had to take it off there produts saying it was demonic.

Pic 4. Ensueno usally strong in sent, But i like this one light scented for dark or colored clothes.
Has a anti fading agent in it not sure if it's effective yet.
Anyone on this product ?
You cant really smell the scent when the whole wash is done & dried.

Ensueno

Saw it at the Family Dollar store and was going to try it but I ending up getting a bottle of Snuggle instead.

I've always liked the scent of Ensueno when used in moderation.

The Indian store a few doors down has a Lever brand laundry bar. It has the 'splat' logo on it. I think it is Surf. Will have to get a bar and see what it is about. I know that they used to sell Henkel's Viva in a bar form in the Mexican groceries around here.

Not Just For Stains

In Mexico and many other parts of the world women, and or anyone else doing laundry still does so by hand. May seem hard for many in developed countries to wrap their heads around, but yes laundry day involves a bar of "soap", tubs of water (r the nearest body of water), and some elbow grease.

I have some of the tide bars I bought in the Philippines. I will post a picture when I get a chance. My partner's parents have one live-in helper that just does the laundry - all by hand.  They also have one that cooks and another that cleans. The helpers seem to actually help each other do the chores. Their home has a special outdoor wash area where all the washing is done. I still have a hard time wrapping my head around the concept that it is more economical to maintain live-in help v. machines. But I do admit it is not difficult to get used to. :-)

laundy bars from Philippines

These are some laundry bars from my detergent collection.
These are all made in Philippines. Tide, Perla, MrClean (P&G) and Surf (Unilever)
I haven't use it since they are part of my collection but I have to admit that smells divine :)

@launderess It seems though that packaged soap/detergent powder is making huge inroads in many countries and these bars are moving more toward stain removal. A lot of Chinese immigrants here could not afford a washing machine but did have washing powder/detergent. Same with many Mexicans now here. Sure there always will be people doing laundry by hand with a bar of "soap", but I think powders are the future there.

Thanks guys for the responses on the laundry bar and softner.

I have seen wash men and women doing other this type of laundering in other countries.
Amazing the energy it takes to keep that of pace going.
I like to wash by hand but not that much lol.

Pingmeep...Thanks for the information on P&G and bringing attention to womens handwashing. And the link on P&G.
I read somewhere in some laundry paper they use to call them (Fullers) mostly male wash men, not sure on the dates but way back.
I Know that when they washed white sheets the would lay them Flat in the feilds for sunlight bleaching.

Ingemar...You have one of the best collections of Detergents thanks for sharing.
Can you E-mail your collection to me or do you have a specific post you have here ?
Thanks for that picture never would have known that they are that long in a packege.

Peter & Jim if you get a chance try that bottle above I like it.
Does not over soften and has a fresh sent goes away easy.
I hope it helps to keep color in.

Joe in Philly I have to E-mail you.

Launderess...Thanks for telling the story of the wash women !
I found a couple of Videos... Here is one with a washing bar of soap and her washing techniques.
