Notice there are two cycles on the dryer's timer, which would be timed or electronic autodry. Thermostatic autodry would have separate Regular and Perm Press auto cycles.
Yielding to Glen the WP Guru:.... is this machine, an LDA 6900, a few years than the discovery? Never knew its year of birth. The temp dial is different, but they're certainly kissin' cousins. Still going strong after all these how many years? This belonged to my Aunt Alice and has never seen a repairman. She gave it to me because the cabinet was rusting a bit at the bottom. Gotta love perfectionist Aunties. Whirlpool's longevity and dependability are remarkable, something you don't hear about too often.
Glen, can you tell me the year?[this post was last edited: 9/3/2012-12:38]
First of all everyone, THANK YOU all for the birthday wishes....they are very much appreciated. It has been a nice birthday weekend.
I called about the machines -- sadly for us in the club they are sold! The nice guy who answered the phone said "Oh those should not still be on there, they've been sold."
So, presumably one day another set will come about. At least I was the buyer of a belt drive when they were still in production so if I don't find another it won't be a huge disappointment.
That is by far my favorite surgilator. I prefer it over the winged thang. Not so much an anti-wing thing as an anti-suds caker. I'd rather see the turnover...
The most I've seen in Kenmores is 25.something gallons, but water capacity seems to vary as models do with different agitators. The smaller Surgilator agitator probably takes up the least space of all the agitators used.
At only $400 for a NIB Whirlpool set am betting it was a local person wanting a good W&D pair that was better than the "Energy Star" garbarge that passes for top loaders today. Don't think you can get a decent TL washer alone today for that price.
Or, OTOH a member spied the advert and nabbed them, guess we will have to wait and see.
If the things are indeed sold the seller should at least take down the CL advert. Hate when persons go on about "oh they were sold long ago", and act bothered that someone is contacting them about whatever.
Happy Birthday Gordon!
Don't worry, something interesting will pop up again soon! Indeed now that the housing market is "on the mend" it seems not a day or week goes by without something jumping out of the woodwork that was in a home someone either just purchased or needs to get shot of because they are moving house.
