Terry from Florida, Roger from Arizona and Ben from Iowa all came in last week for a weekend wash-in gathering. We had a great time and did lots of washing, vacuuming, dishwashing and of course, eating! We watched a couple of great Maytag filmstrips - with audio (beep!) Here is Terry making chocolate-topped almond toffee -

Ben is in the garage working on a cabinet for his Maytag 160 pushbutton washer - I'll let him fill in the details of that story, but it's beautiful! We also stripped a KDS-17 dishwasher for parts for Ben's KDS-17A and my KDS-57 machines. Sacrifice one to make two is a pretty good deal!

Roger is working on a Hoover model 62 vacuum. He took two I'd found over the summer and made one great vacuum!

We also had a party here Saturday night for a dozen or so people (and their washing!) which was a lot of fun for everyone. There was a couple of trips to thrift stores where we found more Corning Centura (yes, I'm working on service for 100 and there are pieces I don't yet have ;-) I didn't take as many pictures as I should have, but Ben took a few and probably will add to this as well.

Thanks again guys for making the trip to Omaha - and the horrible drive in a snowstorm for Ben going home - it was so much fun!

Would love to have been there!

You guys really know how to do it up!! Greg: That GE Liberator looks fab!! How do like the way it cooks? I'll tell you this, I will snarf down anything that Terry and Roger cook up!! They are wonderful chefs! :-D

Now for the questions....is that a Universal Deco or GE Percolator sitting atop the GE? What kind of dishwasher is that next to Ben and the 'Tag? Is that a little Electrolux graveyard that you've got going in the pic of Roger? ;-)

That was a great gathering, snow or no snow!! Glad to see you all had a great time!!

I gained weight....

From all the goodies that were whipped up in Omaha over the weekend! The sticky rolls, bacon, and MONSTER french toast Sunday morning were the icing on the cake - less the cake! I had a great time catching up with Terry, Roger, and Greg this past weekend. Plenty of washing, vacuuming, and dishwashing took place. It appears though that the weekend wasn't as well documented as we would have liked - I didn't take enough pictures as well!

After thrifting Saturday morning, the afternoon was used as the catch-all time to work on things - Terry vacuumed the garage with the 1205, Roger plugged away at the beautiful Hoover model 62, Greg took care of the timer issue in the Control Tower, and I swapped cabinets and tops from my A702 with the extra 160 cabinet and extra 160 top I found a year ago. The wiring was quite taxing, and we discovered that the 160/900/902 machines use a special 22" bulb instead of the standard 18" bulb in the normal lighted panel Maytags - so, sorry folks, no light at this time. I think Atlanta Light Bulbs stock the GE variety of it, so an order will be put in shortly.

The Saturday evening wash in was a blast as well - folks are always drawn to the Frigidaires - who can blame them? It was nice to meet up again with Jamie and his friends Andy and Jodi? Andy has a thing for the Blackstone - he watches every second of the machine's operation. Those swing-out front doors make it so much more fun! And I want to thank Terry for finally showing me what the water saver button does on the 58' GE!

Again, thanks Greg, Terry, and Roger for the wonderful weekend and good eating! The drive home was totally worth it ;-)

Ben

Great pictures Greg, looks like a fun gathering! Wish I could have been there as well, but I'll be going back (FINALLY) in September...;-)

Ben, that 160 looks terrific. Can't wait to see it in all its lighted glory!

Looking forward to seeing y'all in Tucson this March! Less than 3 months away...

Roger---

I apologize----you also have a signature cinnamon roll? I didn't read the caption!

Would love to be there for a "bake-off" between you and Greg for cinnamon rolls! Do you cook the caramel you use in advance? I used to make a cinnamon roll with caramel that I cooked on the stove top with butter, cream, brown sugar---AND Meyer's Dark Brown Rum. As soon as I pulled the rolls from the oven I would pour the warm caramel right over the top then quickly cover the pan for ten minutes or so to let all the flavors intermingle.

Ooops, oh, I know, "Bandwidth".

Looks like you guys had a great time! Looks like a lot of fun, plus Ben got some work done on his pushbuttom Maytag.

Ben, that machine is really something. Can't wait to see those "glamour shots" on that one! <grin>
