I'm currently dealing with my disappointment on missing out on getting a 1940s G.E. wringer washer that was advertised for only $50. This make/model is extremely rare in Canada - in fact, it may have been an import. I've only seen this type in the U.S. So you can imagine my disappointment in not getting it!
I REALLY need a new restoration project right now to occupy my time...oh well, the search continues.

Aw man!

I feel for you Brad. I know the feeling of seeing something and then you miss out on it because it's already gone.

Fingers crossed you come across another vintage GE wringer washer.
Good luck Brad...
🤞🙂

Hey Brad

My parents friend had one quite similar to this machine with a longer skirt on the bottom. I remember the wringer being identical to this one, I always wondered how Ada drained her washer, I saw the drain hose but no lever to operate the pump.
I continue to look for one myself to have in my kitchen. I hope you find something soon. Most on kijiji here are in Ontario.

The wash house

There was no pump, nor stove, in it. There was a faucet on the electric pump about 20' away that had a hose connected to it. This was used to fill the washer. Instead of a stove, there was a big iron pot (cauldron) in the yard that a fire was built under for boiling clothing, etc. It was referred to as the "witch's pot" by my cousins, sister and me. There were galvanized tubs, including a double one with wheels. There were a couple round tubs, one of which hung on a hook outside the back door. My sister and I got baths in that one when we were little.

Thanks for the generous offer, Gary...

but I'm really particularly interested in the older models with full legs. I remember your G.E. however, from my visit in summer 2012 (wow, has it really been that long?!)
