Is this an unreinforced masonry building (I can't tell if that's a structural metal framework that was added or not, but I don't see any of the telltale signs on the exterior)?
If so, I'm amazed that a retrofit wouldn't have been required long before Maytag vacated. No business or manufacturing facility could get away with that here in earthquake territory.
